This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have an intermittent "Check Trailer Wiring" or "Service Trailer Brake" message on the Driver Information Center. Technician will inspect and clean the ground wire (normally white wire) connection on the trailer side of the 7-pin connector. Inspect that the wires inside the trailer side connector are clean and securely fastened. If the vehicle?s 7-way connector socket terminals are deformed or have excessive wear, it will be necessary to replace the truck side connector with part number 23404450.

Customer Satisfaction Program. As part of equipment recall N192285070, GM instructed dealers to remove recalled tri-fold tonneau covers on certain vehicles prior to delivery to the customer. GM is conducting this customer satisfaction field action to provide these customers with the improved tonneau cover system for their vehicle. Dealers will replace the tonneau rails and clamps and add a tether to prevent the tonneau from detaching onto the roadway even if improperly installed. If the vehicle was covered by equipment recall 19E031 (N192217500), the dealer will also confirm that the repair for equipment recall 19E031 (N192217500) was correctly performed.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose and repair vehicle that may have a "Check Trailer Wiring" or "Service Trailer Brake System? message on the Driver Information Center when a trailer is connected to the vehicle. Diagnostic Trouble Code C1114 set in the Chassis Control Module. Chassis Control Module has to determine the type of trailer brake system that is being used. The Chassis Control Module can be sensitive to a variety of trailer wiring issues. The technician will need to make a trailer tester using Electric Trailer Brake Magnets and 7-way trailer connector to determine if it is a vehicle or trailer issue. If the concern is not duplicated with the tester installed, the vehicle is operating correctly and the focus should be on the trailer wiring or 7 way connector.

This Preliminary information communicates that after installation of GM Accessory Performance Brake Pads it may be noticed the EBCM has set DTC(s) C116C 05 and/or C116B 05. There will be NO warning lights or messages displayed on the IPC/DIC. The GM Accessory Performance Brake Pads do not utilize the brake pad wear sensor. None. These DTC(s) do not cause any warning lights or messages to be displayed in the IPC/DIC. Per the GM Accessory Performance Brake installation instructions, the brake pad sensor connector should be capped with the supplied cap and the brake pad life system disabled in the DIC.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician with the steps on diagnosing and repairing vehicles that may have unwanted grade braking, reduced engine power with no Driver Information Center messages ? Brake Pedal Override Feature ?, transmission busy or frequent shifting up or down, and Diagnostic Trouble Codes P057B, P057C, and/or P057D may or may not be set. Technician will use this preliminary information to find the brake pedal position data parameters in the scan tool, and also to provide some additional diagnostic help. These issues may be caused by an incorrect brake pedal position sensor input to the engine control module. Technician will verify with the scan tool if the engine control module has the correct parameters for the brake pedal position sensor. If an engine control module brake pedal position sensor relearn is performed, the truck may be temporarily repaired until the intermittent wiring issue between the engine control module and brake pedal position sensor occurs again. On 2014 and newer trucks inspect and repair any damage to X115 and X119. On the 2014 and previous trucks inspect and repair any damage to X205.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a delayed engagement into drive, shudder at a launch, or the transmission is slipping when shifting into 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th gears. This may be due to loose stator support to pump cover bolts causing a leak at the stator support to pump cover gasket. Technician will check for the bolts to be loose. If any of the bolts are loose or the gasket is misaligned or leaking, the transmission pump cover must be replaced and the 1234 clutch plates should be inspected for being distressed and repaired as needed.

Fuel trims around -20% may be observed on both banks. Engine oil level will be found over full and have a fuel odor. It will be found that the Engine oil is diluted with fuel. Small gas engines (SGE) May only have the engine oil level over full and have a fuel odor. It will be found that the Engine oil is diluted with fuel. This concern is caused by marshalling the vehicle around the lot before it is sold and/or short driver cycles.
