Some customers may experience one or both of the following symptoms while locking and unlocking the doors works fine using the remote transmitter. - Symptom 1: The touch sensor of the front door outer handle does not lock the doors after rain and/or car washing, even though unlocking is possible. - Symptom 2: The touch sensor of the front door outer handle does not unlock the doors. - Cause 1 (for Symptom 1): Water may accumulate around the touch sensor in the outer handle, resulting in temporary lower sensitivity of the capacitive sensor. Also, if car wash foam gets inside the outer handle while washing the vehicle, the foam may disturb the touch sensor detection. Mazda is still working on a mass production change for this concern. - Cause 2 (for Symptom 2): Improper soldering in the production process may disturb the touch sensor detection. To eliminate this concern, the production process has been modified.

Some customers may complain the A/C blows warm. This may be caused by one of two things. Cause 1: After accelerating in hot weather, the A/C blows warm air for a longer time than other models. This is caused by improper control software of the PCM not allowing the A/C compressor to resume properly after acceleration. During a hard acceleration above a certain throttle level opening, the PCM stops the A/C compressor operation for better acceleration. It then resumes the compressor operation after the acceleration. To eliminate this concern, the control software of the PCM has been modified. Cause 2: Insufficient cooling performance at ambient temperature of around 68 °F (20 °C) in daytime. This is caused when both the ambient temperature and the cabin temperature are at around 20 °C (68 °F), auto A/C set at around 20 °C (68 °F) may not cool down the cabin temperature properly. To eliminate this concern, control software of the dash-electrical supply unit (Dash-ESU) has been modified.

Some customers may experience a no start because the battery is discharged after the vehicle is parked for more than 8 hours. This may be caused by one or more of the following, resulting in excessive parasitic draw (dark current) on the battery. 1. The vehicle control system may not have gone to sleep because a key fob was left in the vehicle after the ignition switch was turned off and the doors were closed. This is caused by improper BCM control logic which allows a higher parasitic draw (approx. 6A) to continue for approximately 6 minutes until the vehicle control system goes into sleep mode. If the doors are operated frequently for car washing or luggage loading/unloading etc., it prevents the vehicle control system from sleeping during that time. 2. The parking lights may have been left on because the warning sound for lights on is a short ding, and it may not be noticed. 3. [With Full-Auto A/C] The climate control unit may not have gone to sleep because the hazard warning switch was pressed after the ignition was turned off. This is caused by improper control logic of the climate control unit. To correct these concerns: 1. The control software of the body control module (BCM) has been modified to shorten the time until going into the sleep mode to approximately 2 minutes. 2. The control software of the body control module (BCM) has been modified to change the lights on warning sound to a continuous one. 3. The control software of the climate control unit has been modified.

Some CX-5 and CX-30 customers may find that the liftgate does not close when pressing the power liftgate (PLG) rear switch located on the interior liftgate trim. This may be caused by PLG switch corrosion. Water from a high pressure car washer and/or condensation may drip onto the switch connector and cause corrosion. To eliminate this concern, the PLG rear switch has been modified with a waterproof connector. Some Mazda3, CX-30 and MX-30 customers may complain that the vehicle door locking system does not work when the door lock switch on the liftgate interior trim is pressed. DTC B11C4:23 (BCM - liftgate lock switch circuit malfunction) may be stored. This may be caused during a high pressure car wash and/or condensation. Water may enter through the rear center brand emblem base component and drip onto the switch connector causing corrosion. The rusted connector may also cause a battery drain. To eliminate this concern, the rear center brand emblem base has been modified to prevent water entry (Mazda3) and the rear harness has been modified to prevent water infiltration (Mazda3, CX-30 and MX-30).

Some vehicles may exhibit a rear console lid with a sticking feeling or a squeaking noise when opening and/or closing. This is caused by an inappropriate shape of the console lid hinge pin where the position of the hinge pin (1) becomes misaligned when the rear console lid is repeatedly opened and closed. When parts around the hinge pin thermally expand, the result creates a gap in the hinge of the rear console lid. To eliminate this concern, the shape of the hinge pin has been modified to prevent the pin from coming off.

Some vehicles may exhibit water leaking into the passenger compartment from the rear door through the bottom of the service hole behind the rear door trim during rain or when washing the vehicle. This is caused by one of the following: *Since the material of the seal rubber is not resistant to surfactants, the rubber deteriorates when the vehicle is washed and allows water to penetrate into the seal rubber of the service hole cover. *The lower tabs of the service hole cover may not have been completely engaged at the factory. To eliminate this concern, the seal material of the service-hole cover has been changed (Japan built Mazda3) and a mass production change will be implemented in the future (Mexico built Mazda3 and CX-30).

The new AWD rear differential DOES NOT come with a breather cap on the rear of the differential, therefore a new one will need to be ordered and installed when replacing the differential. NOTE: The breather threads have a sealant and locking compound that prevents it from being reused. Refer to GEPC for the correct part number of the Differential Breather. The instructions on MGSS will be updated soon to include replacing the breather when replacing the differential with a new unit.
