Rear Axle Vibration Shudder Or Chatter Customers may experience the following: ● A chatter, shudder, or vibration from the rear axle during turns. NOTE: This may happen more as the vehicle ages, especially if the vehicle is used extensively for towing or hauling heavy loads. The cause of the concern may be due to degradation of the rear axle fluid. It is very important to follow the routine maintenance schedules on these vehicles when it comes to changing the rear axle fluid if the vehicle is used primarily for towing or hauling heavy loads. If you experience a vehicle with the above condition, please perform the proper maintenance procedures for the rear axle and replace the fluid first before replacing any hardware components. NOTE: This service bulletin is only applicable to vehicles that have no history of an axle fluid replacement. If the vehicle usage includes police, taxi, fleet, off-road or frequent trailer towing, regular axle fluid changes are required every 3 years or 30,000 miles (whichever comes first) per the Maintenance Schedule in the vehicle Owner's Manual. This bulletin involves changing the rear axle lube to possibly address a chatter, shudder or vibration.

In case of TPMS concerns, please follow the below: - Verify that the 12V Vehicle battery is good, as low or dead batteries may cause TPMS to not function as designed. - In case of Tire Rotation or Tire Change for Sensata TPM sensors. - Perform TPMS Autolearn Procedure. - (Autolearn Procedure - Drive over a speed of 25Kmph or 15 Mph for 20 mins) - If an RFH is replaced for any other concern, please program the TPMS sensor IDs and placard values into the new RFH and perform the autolearn procedure. - Verify if the RFHM and IPC SWs are up to date. If not, update to the latest SW versions. - Disconnect the Remote Start Antenna Coaxial cable, wait for a minute and plug it back in and verify if the antenna is working as expected, as any issues with it can cause TPMS and Fob issues. - Study the Remote Start Antenna wiring for pinches or damages, as any of these can cause issues with the TPMS and the fob functions. - If DTCs - C15CB00 ("Front Axle Tire Pressure Placard Implausible") and/or C15CC00 ("Rear Axle Tire Pressure Placard Implausible") are being triggered, program the placard values. Also, check if the placard values were programmed previously. - Make sure the sensors are fitted correctly to the rim. Incorrect positioning and loose tire sensors will cause the TPMS system to not work as expected. - If there are any issues in terms of tire pressure, inflate or deflate to the recommended placard pressures. - Verify if the sensor IDs are correct. If they are incorrect, autolearn the sensors. (Autolearn Procedure - Drive over a speed of 25Kmph or 15 Mph for 20 mins) - If the sensor is still not working as expected, Swap the sensor that is having issues to another wheel location on the vehicle relatively closer to RFHM, and check if the problem exists in the new location after autolearning. If yes, the sensor would be inspected. If no, check for aftermarket parts on the vehicle as they can affect the TPMS system. - Aftermarket parts that can impact TPMS functioning: Electrical LED LIGHTING RV equipment, Rear cameras (After Market) Toll Road Transponder Transceivers radios such as FRS /CB. ADJUSTER Valve Lash Customer's complaint may include a ticking noise coming from the engine. Technician's observations can refer to spongy or stuck hydraulic lash adjusters. Exhaust lash adjusters found with a "spongy" condition (compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. EXHAUST lash adjusters are designed to be COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Intake lash adjusters found with a stiff or stuck condition (non-compressible plunger) leading to the assumption of being defective/malfunctioning. INTAKE lash adjusters are designed to be NON COMPRESSIBLE by hand. Do Not Replace EXHAUST lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should be compressible, but they will exert a reactionary spring force during compression and return to full expansion without a compression force. Do Not Replace INTAKE lash adjusters when the following condition is present: should feel very firm and difficult to compress. Once the correct functioning of the intake and exhaust lash adjusters is validated with the procedure above, refer to the Service Manual "HYDRAULIC LIFTER(S) NOISE DIAGNOSIS" procedure. After the corresponding service procedures from the Service Manual involving the Lash Adjusters have been conducted, refer to the detailed instructions in the Service Manual to diagnose and/or service any other component.

Engine Overheating Customer Complaint/Technician Observation: Customer complaint may include engine “overheating”. Discussion: When dealing with a customer complaint of engine ”overheating”, it is most important to understand exactly what the customer’s definition is of “overheating”. An explanation from the customer of what exactly happened is necessary. Overheating descriptions could include warning lamp(s), messages in the cluster, steam/smoke coming from under the hood, gauge “running higher than normal”, actual engine temperature higher than what the customer considers normal, smells hot, coolant leaking under the vehicle, etc. Observed engine operating temperatures of 245 F (118 C) degrees or lower are typical and are NOT considered overheating.
