This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about multiple Diagnostic Trouble Codes set and Instrument Panel Self-Test occurs when the Multiple Diagnostic Interface is plugged into the vehicle's Diagnostic Link Connector. Technician will need to use diagnostic test probe J-35616-2A to test for spread terminals. Technician will replace any terminal that are spread too far.

Technician should be advised Windshield reduces Ultraviolet rays down to 4% or less. Front side door glass reduces Ultraviolet rays down to 35% or less. Windshields are SOLAR glass with a light transmittance of >/=70%. Front door glass are Solar glass with a light transmission of >/=70%. Rear door glass, quarter windows and back windows can use either Solar glass (>/=70%) or Privacy glass, which has a light transmittance of 20%.

This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician to insure that global diagnostic service 2 diagnostic packages are up to date prior to learning the steering angle sensor for a diagnostic trouble code C710 symptom code 71 set in the electronic brake control module or the power steering control module. When rechecking for diagnostic trouble codes a U0074 U0077, U0180D, U01293, U0126, U0125, C0186, C0196, or C0287 are set and will not clear diagnose the Chassis bus. If no fault is found in the chassis bus check for an multiple diagnostic interface to data link connector issue. Technician is to try a different multiple diagnostic interface cable and attempt the steering angle sensor learn again following service information instruction then try to clear the codes again.

12227A - SERVICE UPDATE (CLARIFICATION OF PURPOSE STATEMENT). AFTER CLOSING THE DOOR, THE VEHICLE WILL RUN CHECKS FOR 2 SECONDS TO DETERMINE IF THE RKE TRANSMITTER HAS BEEN LEFT IN THE VEHICLE. DURING THIS TWO SECOND TIME WINDOW, THE OUTSIDE DOOR HANDLE TOUCHPAD WILL NOT LOCK THE DOORS WHEN TOUCHED, AND THE DOOR WILL NOT LOCK. THE TOUCHPAD WILL FUNCTION NORMALLY AFTER THE 2 SECOND WINDOW. DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE KEYLESS ENTRY CONTROL MODULE TO REDUCE THE TIME THAT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT REACT TO THE DOOR HANDLE TOUCH PAD (FROM APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS TO ABOUT 1 ½ SECONDS).
