Some vehicles (without power seats) may exhibit a driver seat that gradually moves down by itself. This concern may be caused when a load, which is applied to the seat during braking, exceeds a certain level that could impact the retaining mechanism of the seat lifter causing the seat to gradually move downward. To eliminate this concern, the play in the lift mechanism gears has been reduced.

A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON. This odor is the result of mold growth in the A/C evaporator/cooling unit which is caused by condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse during high humidity conditions. “Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating” is available to encapsulate the mold to reduce odors. If the product is properly applied, it can effectively reduce the musty/mildew odor for up to three years.

Some vehicles may experience one or more of the following symptoms in connection with a malfunction related to the C-15 connector.  The driver side power window does not operate.  The door does not open when using the advanced keyless system.  The warning lamp stays ON even after the ignition switch is turned OFF.  DTC B10E7:17 (START STOP UNIT, IG1 Relay Circuit Malfunction) and DTCs related to communication errors may be stored in PCM memory.  Engine no start due to battery discharge.  Clicking sound from throttle body. The symptoms listed above may be caused by corrosion of the C-15 connector terminals due to water intrusion through the front door. In low ambient temperatures, the door harness hardens. If the door is fully opened, it may create a gap between the door and the door harness grommet, which may allow water to enter through the gap.

Some customers may complain about an unusual noise coming from the engine compartment for about 20 seconds after a cold engine start. This noise is a normal engine operation for improved exhaust gas emissions. The noise does not indicate a malfunction. ACCELERATED WARM-UP SYSTEM (AWS): All SKYACTIV-G engines adopt AWS to reduce exhaust gas emissions immediately after a cold engine start. AWS increases the engine idling speed and retards the ignition timing for about 20 seconds after the cold engine start to quickly warm up the catalytic converter. The customer may identify the engine sound during the AWS operation as a unusual noise.

Some vehicles may experience the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON with DTC P2610 and P2507 stored in memory after engine start and room fuse 15A (A) removed. P2610:00: Instrument cluster internal engine off timer performance problem  P2507:00: PCM battery voltage low input. As a past malfunction, the customer will not notice it (no warning light illuminated), but the DTC may be found during a vehicle service. P2507 in this situation is only applicable on 2016 and later models. This is caused by the engine being started 3 or more times after a short duration of engine off (less than 15 seconds) with the room fused removed. NOTE: The odometer will display “F0-002” during transport mode (room fuse 15A removed). Transport mode is canceled when room fuse 15A is installed or the vehicle odometer is more than 12.4mi (20km).Vehicles in dealer inventory with this concern should be repaired using the following repair procedure.

In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer’s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement.  Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers.  When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles.  This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage.  Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the “Speedometer Replacement Label”. Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore.  In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda’s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO’s services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.

Some customers may complain of condensation/fog inside the front (headlamp/headlight) or rear (taillamp/taillight) combination lights. The recent new models have been fitted with a clear lens which can cause the symptom to be more noticeable, however, it does not affect the performance of the light. This condensation/fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a fairly large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the light housing. It is normal for very small water drops to appear in certain locations on the light units where the air is stagnant (condensation), making the lens look whitish (fog). This happens mostly in the corners and narrow spaces, and will typically clear during warmer ambient temperatures, or when the lights have been on for some time.

When pressing the START/STOP button in very cold weather, the ignition may not turn off on some vehicles equipped with a lock release button (1) on the selector lever knob. Although the selector lever is in the "P" position and the engine shuts off normally, the ignition may stay on (in accessory mode). NOTE: This TSB only applies if the selector lever knob is BHN2-46-030* or BHN4-46-030* with the lock release button. If not, this TSB does not apply. This may be caused by the lock release button in the selector lever knob sticking in the pressed position. An improper production process is causing an internal part to expand with moisture and interfere with other parts. To eliminate this concern, the production process has been modified.

Some vehicles may exhibit an unusual noise (clacking) from under the front of the vehicle. This noise only occurs when starting to move the vehicle while the steering wheel is fully turned to the driver-side (left side for LHD vehicle and right side for RHD vehicle). NOTE: The noise will not occur if the steering wheel is in the center or to the full passenger-side position. The noise is caused when the edge (A) of the inner ball joint (B) gets stuck with the steering gear housing(C). To eliminate the noise, a spacer (A) has been installed between the inner ball joint (B) and the steering gear housing (C) (both sides) to prevent direct contact.

In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer's responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometer and related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the "Speedometer Replacement Label". Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda's vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO's services, it is possible that the odometer will be set between 10 to 31 miles over the odometer mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs. Please make sure that the customer is aware that there may be a slight variance to the odometer, in which case the customer may have to accept the slightly higher mileage. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after-warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.
