This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician how to diagnose and repair vehicles with an engine that runs with an intermittent crank no start with a Diagnostic Trouble Code P0011 or P00C6 current or history. Technician will need to use Global Diagnostic System 2 to actuate the cam phaser solenoid 4 or 5 times then try starting the vehicle. Then disable the ignition and fuel system. After the ignition and fuel system are disabled try to start the engine. Technician can now unplug the camshaft actuator to perform the following. Install a 20A fused jumper wire between the terminal 2 and 12V. Tickle/tap the low reference terminal 1 to ground on the cam actuator magnet, while cranking the engine over. This may have to be performed more than once.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have oil dripping out of the air filter box. Technician will check the proper level of the oil prior to any repair. Technician will change the oil filter and clean out the air box. Also insure there is no residual oil in the PVC lines and install a new air filter.

13384 - Customer Satisfaction. The rear differential assembly may have been shipped from the supplier with insufficient fluid. Operating the vehicle without sufficient fluid in the rear differential assembly could produce a loud whine and/or gear or bearing noise. Dealers are to inspect the rear differential fluid level and add fluid, if necessary. If fluid is required, dealers are to also road-test the vehicle and listen for rear axle noise. If a whine, gear or bearing noise is present, dealers are to replace the rear differential assembly.

After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle.
