This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an OnStar system that will not power up. Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down, remove power to the OnStar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle. If the OnStar system is still inoperative continue with published Service Information diagnostics.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have the Antilock Braking System, Service Traction Control System, and/or Service Stabilitrak lights are on. The Electronic Brake Control Module may have one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes C0035-C0050 with specifically symptom 18, 5A, or 0F. Technician will gain access to the correct wheel bear per the Diagnostic Trouble Code that is set. If debris is found on the magnetic encoder ring it will needed to be cleaned.

Technician should be advised that the cushion and seat-back should achieve an approximate temperature according to the level of desired heat. The temperatures for the cushion and seat-back are Heated Seat Low Temp Setting - 37 Celsius 98.6 Fahrenheit, Heated Seat Med Temp Setting - 39 Celsius 102.2 Fahrenheit, and Heated Seat High Temp Setting - 42 Celsius 107.6 Fahrenheit.

Dealers are to run a diagnostic procedure to verify the integrity of the indium tin oxide (ITO) sensing of the radio control assembly. If the diagnostic procedure determines a concern with the ITO sensing, dealers are to replace the radio control assembly.
