Audi connect Gen1 and Gen2 systems: Differences and troubleshooting. The customer has a general concern related to Audi connect. Different features are included with different generations of the Audi connect system. The Audi connect Gen1 system includes all vehicles that utilize a removable plastic SIM card. The Audi connect Gen2 system includes all vehicles that utilize an embedded SIM card. The root cause of all complaints cannot be attributed to the vehicle hardware because of the backend server configurations that need to be correct in order for Audi connect to work. For most sporadic complaints, the issue typically resides with the MBB backend server or with the source data provider (Google, INRIX, etc.), and not with the vehicle. In rare cases, the mobile network operator (AT&T, T-Mobile) can be the cause of the complaint. For most static complaints, the issue can be attributed to the user account subscription or possibly the vehicle hardware.

When the vehicle is driven on hilly roads for a long period of time, the displayed vehicle range suddenly changes by a significant amount. This condition does not involve or affect the accuracy of the fuel level indicator, but only the estimated distance to empty display on the on-board computer.

The traffic feature in the MMI navigation is inoperative. If the vehicle is a model year 2016 A6 or A7, see TSB 2042013: 91 Audi connect online destination search, Google Earth navigation view, or INRIX online traffic is not available. There is a known server issue that can only be resolved through a change to the Audi AG backend server. Audi has changed traffic providers over the years as new technologies have developed. This bulletin provides an overview of the different systems and the basic checks that can be performed to diagnose complaints related to traffic in the MMI navigation system.

When the vehicle is driven between 35 mph and 75 mph, a noise can be heard in the front of the vehicle. The customer may say that the noise is coming from the steering column area, and may describe the sound as buzzing, humming, whistling, whining, grinding, howling, and/or droning. This is an update to the November 3, 2015 communication where Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. issued a stop sale order for all 2013-2016 model year Audi vehicles equipped with a Gen II 3.0 liter V6 TDI engine. This was in response the notice received from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board of an investigation related to certain emissions compliance matters impacting certain 3.0 liter V6 TDI engine vehicles. After the comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 05) is replaced, the control module cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual. Any time a comfort system central control module, J393 (address word 05), is replaced, the new control module must be coded and parameterized with online SVM spec/actual or an SVM code. If the SVM spec/actual returns a response of ?Check Hardware?, then an SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new control module.
