Non-approved washer fluids leave a clear film coating on the sensor probes, insulating the probes so they cannot read the fluid level. Refer to Elsa for proper fluid type and fluid quantities under repair manual, maintenance, fluid capacity table. If the fluid is not blue in color, drain the fluid, remove the sensor and clean with cleaner (D-009-401-04) or equivalent. Reinstall the sensor, top off washer reservoir with proper fluid and validate that the indicator lamp in the I.P. is no longer illuminated.

A new MDI cable (?MDI Adapter Cable ? Lightning Charger?) is now available through the VW Accessories eCatalog that is made for use with iPhone 5 variants as well as the previously mentioned iPad/iPod models. This cable should provide full functionality on any vehicle equipped with a UMI (Unified Multimedia Interface). On MY 13 and older vehicles equipped with an MDI, the software level of the MDI must be at or above SW 240 (see Technical Bulletin 2024337) in order to be fully functional.
