Technical Bulletin (HVAC, Unpleasant Odor): Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this document can be performed. This document contains the procedure for the VW method to remove musty odors

This document contains the fault codes to trouble shoot MIL ON, Exhaust Flap Fault issues. The new Generation III TDI engines have an exhaust flap that is welded into the exhaust pipe assembly. If faults for the flap electronics are stored, it is not necessary to replace the complete pipe. Replacement electronics components are available.

Technical Bulletin (HVAC, Unpleasant Odor): Unpleasant odor is coming from Heating and Ventilation system. Odor mainly occurs after vehicle has been sitting (unused) at least 5 hours and within 20 to 60 seconds after vehicle is first started. Condensation is a normal characteristic in all A/C systems. If odor is noticeable continue to follow this document. Contaminants are effectively neutralized using the AIRCOMATIC? II Ultrasonic Climate System Cleaner (VAS 6189A) or AIRCOMATIC? III Ultrasonic Climate System Cleaner (VAS 6189B) and AIRCO-CLEAN? Ultrasonic HVAC Treatment (30208). All other cleaning methods are no longer permitted. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.
