12 VOLT BATTERY TESTING FOR IN-SERVICE VEHICLES SERVICE INFORMATION The following Service Information lists NNA procedural recommendations for establishing good connections while performing 12V battery testing. These recommendations are expected to promote uniformity during the connection process, therefore reducing the number of incorrect “Test with DCA” and “Replace” results. HINT: If 12 volt batteries are allowed to discharge for a prolonged period of time, battery life may be drastically reduced. This condition may lead to premature battery replacement and customer dissatisfaction. IMPORTANT:  CPX-900 is now an accepted testing tool to use along with or in place of the DSS-5000  CPX-900 operating instructions are found at: https://nissancpx900.midtronics.com/  DSS-5000 operating instructions are found at: https://nissandss5000.midtronics.com/  DCA-8000 is now a required testing tool to be used for all warranty replacement decisions. The DCA-8000 is also a more efficient charger than previously available, and will charge any available 12 volt lead acid battery safely and accurately as long as all precautions and inputs are made correctly. The DCA-8000 operating instructions are found at: https://nissandca8000.midtronics.com/

Halogen Headlamp Voluntary Service Campaign REVISED September 16, 2022 Please discard earlier versions of this bulletin. The announcement from May 20, 2022 has been revised to include the following changes: Nissan has experienced an unexpected high volume of dealer orders for headlamp assemblies during this campaign. Nissan continues to work expeditiously with the supplier to improve the supply schedule in effort to fulfill DBS orders as quickly as possible. However, headlamp parts supply continues to be very limited for the foreseeable future. Nissan is requesting dealer support to reduce the impact across the network and ensure our customers are taken care of. Nissan is requesting dealers to review their current open parts orders, and is offering a limited opportunity to 1) cancel unnecessary orders and 2) return excess parts in dealer inventory. In the review, please consider future orders, as parts 26060-3TA90 & 26010-3TA9A will not be returnable (J-coded) after October 21, 2022. Nissan reserves the right to make changes to part returns at any time and is subject to change. Parts ordered under PC861 • Dealers can cancel open DBS orders by contacting NNA Campaign Parts at nnacampaignparts@Nissan-Usa.com, and including the required dealer order information. • Dealers can return any excess campaign parts using RFC “I”-Code by the October 21, 2022 deadline and not affect your obsolescence accrual credit • Parts 26060-3TA9A & 26010-3TA9A will not be returnable (J-coded) after October 21, 2022 Claims processing support • Instruction for claims with inspection prior to May 20, 2022 (PC861); see item 2 under Claims Information section below o Requires work order with open date prior to May 20, 2022 with headlamp diagnosis NG

Oxygen Sensor Voltage Inspection Warranty Extension Dealer Announcement: In the interest of customer satisfaction, Nissan is providing a limited warranty extension to certain MY2013-2016 Nissan Altima 2.5L (SULEV and 50 states emissions) and certain MY2013-2016 Nissan Sentra vehicles (50 states only) to allow for annual rear oxygen sensor voltage checks, upon request, to determine if a rear oxygen sensor short-to-ground condition exists. If a rear oxygen sensor short-to ground condition exists, Nissan will inspect and repair or replace, as necessary, the sensor or wiring and remedy any diagnostic trouble codes that may have been masked by a failure to detect a possible rear oxygen (O2) sensor short to ground (SCG) condition. If those DTCs are first found only after a short-to-ground repair, the Limited Emission Warranty extension will cover the costs of parts and labor to inspect and repair the corresponding issue(s). Affected vehicles may fail to detect the rear oxygen (O2) sensor short circuit to ground (SCG). Undetected SCG may result in failure to pass emissions testing. Owners of eligible vehicles will receive a notification indicating their eligibility for the following: •Annual rear oxygen sensory voltage check during the extended warranty coverage •Limited warranty extension for the rear oxygen sensor to 20 years/200,000 miles (whichever occurs first) What Dealers Should Do: 1.Verify if vehicles are eligible for this limited Warranty Extension using the warranty extension page of Service Comm. 2.Dealers should perform a voltage check and, if necessary, remedy any eligible vehicles subject to this warranty extension to ensure customer satisfaction using NTB22-007. 3.The service department should submit the applicable warranty claim for the action(s) performed.

Halogen Headlamp Warranty Extension Campaign Summary: On or around October 25, 2021, current and former owners and lessees of certain 2013-2018 Altima vehicles received a postcard from a Settlement Administrator informing them of the terms of a proposed class action settlement that, subject to final court approval, could extend the warranty on the halogen headlamps. The class action lawsuit alleges that 2013-18 Altima models manufactured with halogen headlamps have a defect that causes the internal reflecting surface to delaminate, resulting in dimming of the low beam headlamps. The proposed settlement has been approved by the court presiding over the class action lawsuit, providing a 3-year extension of the warranty covering headlamp dimming due to delamination. The limited warranty extension will become effective January 20, 2022. Nissan will provide a 3-year extension of the manufacturer’s warranty covering headlamp dimming due to the delamination, for a total of six (6) years of coverage. During this limited warranty extension period, Nissan will replace both headlamps at no charge for parts and labor. All other warranty terms, limitations, and conditions remain unchanged.

Halogen Headlamp Class Action Owner Notification Beginning October 25, 2021, current and former owners and lessees of certain 2013-2018 Altimas will receive a postcard from a Settlement Administrator informing them of the terms of a proposed class action that, subject to final court approval, could extend the warranty on the halogen headlamps. The class action lawsuit alleges that 2013-18 Altima models manufactured with halogen headlamps have a defect that causes the internal reflecting surface to delaminate, resulting in dimming of the low beam headlamps. Nissan denies all allegations of wrongdoing and liability but has agreed to this customer service initiative in order to resolve the dispute. Beginning in December 2018, all genuine Nissan replacement parts were manufactured with a new design. The proposed settlement is still subject to final approval by the court presiding over the class action lawsuit. The court will determine if the settlement will be approved at or shortly after a hearing that is scheduled for December 20, 2021. If approved, the warranty extension will become effective 31 days after the approval is granted. Additional communication will be distributed prior to the warranty extension going into effect. To be clear, unless and until the proposed settlement is approved by the presiding court, there is no warranty extension and you should proceed with halogen headlamp-related claims as outlined below in #3 under what dealers should do. The proposed settlement, and the associated potential warranty extension, include many terms and conditions. Rather than attempting to address questions about the proposed settlement terms from customers, it is strongly recommended that you refer customers to the websites and/or telephone numbers listed below so that they can receive information from appropriate sources and to avoid providing incorrect and/or incomplete information.

CVT Warranty Extension In an effort to assure customer satisfaction, demonstrate our confidence in continuously variable transmissions (CVTs), and to address customer concerns including those expressed by customers in the class actions, Nissan will extend the warranty coverage on the CVT. The warranty extension includes the CVT assembly and internal CVT components, gaskets, and seals, CVT control valve body, torque converter, cooler kit (if applicable) and reprogramming of the Transmission Control Module (TCM), on the vehicles listed in this announcement from its original duration of 60 months/60,000 miles to 84 months/84,000 miles (whichever occurs first). The extension also includes rental while CVT repairs or replacements are completed. Coverage of other vehicle components remains unchanged, and all other terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions of Nissan’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty continue to apply. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. If an owner contacts a dealer with a CVT concern in an owned or leased vehicle, verify warranty coverage for the specific VIN and then inform the customer of any diagnostic charges. NOTE: Some owners may have opted out of the warranty extension as part of the class action settlements, thus it is important to check the VIN for each vehicle to verify coverage. 2. Use the appropriate Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) and/or Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to diagnose the root cause of the customer concern and identify the correct repair to resolve the customer concerns. NOTE: Dealers will need to follow the warranty process and obtain pre-approval from the Powertrain Call Center (800-973-9992, option 2) for any vehicles requiring CVT replacements when the replacement cost exceeds a Dealer’s Claims Administration/Authorization Limits (DCAL). Control valves and CVT belt and pulley kits do not require pre-authorization for repairs made under warranty.

CVT Repairs Repair Recommendation: Dealers are advised to use all diagnostic information available in the ESM, TSBs, and ASIST to determine the appropriate repair for a customer’s concern. Nissan recommends CVT assembly replacement be offered whenever diagnostics have led a dealer to determine a belt and pulley sub assembly repair will resolve a customer’s concern and the vehicle time in service or mileage is equal to or greater than 84 months in service or 84,000 miles. This recommendation provides longer-term durability for customer satisfaction. Customers required to pay out-of-pocket for these repairs may still choose belt and pulley sub assembly repair in lieu of CVT unit replacement if they prefer that option. Note: This recommendation only applies to belt and pulley sub assembly repairs. Do not recommend CVT unit replacement when the diagnosis is for software updates or control valves.

REV 2 - Phase II

NHTSA communication ID: 10172259

NHTSA source summary · Original PDF not reviewed by Recallfolio

Rear Lower Link Salt States Voluntary Service Campaign ***** Campaign Summary***** Nissan is conducting a Voluntary Service Campaign on certain Model Year 2013 Nissan Altima vehicles in USA (high road salt usage states) and Model Year 2013 and 2014 Nissan Altima vehicles in Canada to replace the rear suspension lower link. On some affected vehicles, one of the rear lower suspension links may corrode and separate at the bushing joint area. Customers may notice a knocking or rattling noise from the rear of the vehicle or observe wheel misalignment on the rear wheel(s) if the link separates. Out of an abundance of caution, Nissan will conduct a proactive field action on vehicles currently or formerly registered in specific U.S. states with high road salt usage and in Canada. This activity is launching to dealers in two (2) phases, beginning with Vermont, Ohio, and Wisconsin in the U.S in October 2019. Phase II, for remaining salt states (Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia), is launching to dealers on December 6, 2019. ***** What Dealers Should Do ***** 1. Verify if vehicles are affected by this Voluntary Service Campaign using Service Comm or DBS National Service History - Open Campaign I.D. P9324. 2. Dealers should repair any affected vehicles in retailer pre-owned inventory or vehicles taken on trade to help ensure customer satisfaction. 3. Dealers should use NTB19-082 to remedy any vehicles subject to this campaign. 4. The service department should submit the applicable warranty claim for the action performed so it can be closed on Service Comm and release the vehicle.
