Some customers may complain of condensation/fog inside the front (headlamp/headlight) or rear (taillamp/taillight) combination lights. The recent new models have been fitted with a clear lens which can cause the symptom to be more noticeable, however, it does not affect the performance of the light. This condensation/fog is a natural phenomenon that occurs when there is a fairly large temperature difference between the inside and the outside of the light housing. It is normal for very small water drops to appear incertain locations on the light units where the air is stagnant (condensation), making the lens look whitish (fog). This happens mostly in the corners and narrow spaces, and will typically clear during warmer ambient temperatures, or when the lights have been on for some time.

Certain CX-9 vehicles may experience a creaking/squeaking noise from the right rear suspension. The noise may occur while traveling at lower speeds or coming to a stop, or when starting from a stop. The noise can also be duplicated by gently bouncing the right rear suspension (i.e. simulating the movement of a passenger exiting the right rear door). The creaking noise may be caused by stick-slip between the upper spring seat rubber and the coil spring.

Some customers may experience a lack of power with no warning lights illuminated and no related DTCs stored. This concern most likely occurs when the fuel temperature is high and during situations where high power is required. This concern may be caused when the learning value for the low pressure fuel pump exceeds a certain level and the PCM limits engine power to avoid a lack of fuel injection. Even if the low pressure fuel pump has a problem, no DTCs are stored. To eliminate this concern, the PCM control logic has been modified not to limit engine power. After this modification, DTCs P0192:00 or P0087:00 are stored when the fuel injection amount is insufficient. P0192:00 - High fuel pressure sensor circuit low input P0087:00 - High fuel pressure sensor circuit range/performance problem.

After parking the vehicle at temperatures below the freezing, some customers may experience a lack of power with the check engine light on and DTC P0638:00 and/or P2112:00 stored in memory. - P0638:00: Throttle valve actuator control range/performance problem (one drive cycle DTC) - P2112:00: Throttle valve actuator motor currentrange/performance problem (one drive cycle DTC) This concern may be caused by condensed water in the intake manifold entering the throttle valve. After parking at temperatures below freezing, the throttle valve may be frozen at the stand-by position, resulting in the symptom. To prevent this concern, the control logic of the PCM has been modified to avoid frozen the throttle valve (by moving the valve at a certain time after the ignition has been turned off). NOTE: With this modification, the main relay may stay on up to 90 minutes after the ignition switch is turned off. "BATTERY INSPECTION" in the Workshop Manual will be modified to properly check the battery parasitic draw after this modification.

Some customers may experience a lack of power when driving. The master warning light or the check engine light turns on and DTC P130C:00 and U0401:00 (ABS) stored in memory. It occurs mostly at low temperatures. Once the ignition is turned off and on, the concern may disappear. NOTE: DTC P130C:00 may not be found upon M-MDS self test since this DTC is detected when the condition occurs in two drive cycles in a row. The PCM turns the master warning light on during the first drive cycle, then stores a pending DTC. The master warning light and check engine light come on in the second drive cycle as a confirmation of the DTC. The engine power is limited by the fail-safe function both in the first and second drive cycles. DTC P130C:00 - (Pre-ignition detected), DTC U0401:00- (ABS) (Signal error from PCM) Improper control logic of the PCM detects a normal operating noise as a knocking noise. To eliminate this concern, the control logic of the PCM has been changed.

Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following noises from the front suspension: 1. A creaking noise from under the front of the vehicle (front lower arm bushing) when driving over bumps atapproximate 12 - 25 mph (20 - 40 Km/h). The noise occurs when the road surface is wet or after the vehicle has been washed. The noise becomes more noticeable as the bumps get higher. The creaking noise is caused by the front lower arm bushing (A) making a stick-slip noise during wet road conditions. 2. A clunking noise from the front coil spring when driving over bumps. The clunking noise is due to stick-slip between the front strut bearing (B) and the coil spring (C). 3. A popping noise from the bump stopper (D) when driving through gutters. To eliminate the noise, the following mass-production changes have been made: 1. The coating treatment of the lower arm bushing has been changed to reduce friction and prevent stick-slip. 2. Protectors have been installed onto the coil springs to prevent stick-slip. 3. No mass-production change is scheduled for the bump stopper, however, a modified service part has been established.

The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system alerts the driver of a possible collision using an indication in the display and a warning sound when the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) detects a vehicle ahead and determines that a collision with a vehicle ahead is imminent. In addition, the system reduces damage in the event of a collision by operating the brake control when the system determines that a collision is unavoidable. It may also be possible to avoid a collision depending on the relative speed between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. In addition, when the driver depresses the brake pedal, the brakes are applied firmly and quickly to assist.

In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer?s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometerand related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the ?SpeedometerReplacement Label?.Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda?s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO?s services, a Mazda dealer can get the odometer setting updated to reflect the correct mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs, therefore resulting in a higher level of customer satisfaction. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.

Some customers may complain that the tachometer display in the Active Driving Display cannot be turned off using the MAZDA CONNECT setting menu since it has been removed by a CMU update. The concerns will be noticed after a CMU update from versions 58 to version 59. If the setting for the tachometer display was left ?ON? for the programmed position before the CMU update, the position memory control module still remembers the status and therefore the tachometer display remains.

Some vehicles may exhibit one or both of the following noises from the front suspension: 1. A creaking noise from under the front of the vehicle (front lower arm bushing) when driving over bumps at approximate 12 - 25 mph (20 - 40 Km/h). The clunking noise is due to stick-slip between the front strut bearing (B) and the coil spring (C).To eliminate the noise, the following mass-production changes have been made: 1. The coating treatment of the lower arm bushing has been changed to reduce friction and prevent stick-slip. 2. Protectors have been installed onto the coil springs to prevent stick-slip.

The following may be the causes: 1)The A/C compressor ON/OFF control is not operating correctly, causing a problem with the air temperature control. 1)The air conditioner may not be cool enough due to inadequate amount of the refrigerant, due to leakage or overcharging. 2)The control of the amount of air blown is incorrect. To eliminate these concerns, the front and rear climate control unit software has been modified to optimize the amount of air blown and the A/C compressor ON/OFF controls.

PERMANENT DTCS ARE NOW DISPLAYED WITH THE IDS 104 UPDATE. THE PURPOSE OF A PERMANENT DTC IS TO PREVENT CUSTOMERS FROM CLEARING THEM BY DISCONNECTING THE BATTERY CABLE IN ORDER TO PASS A SMOG CHECK. ALL PCM AND TCM DTCS THAT TURN ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAN REMAIN AS A PERMANENT DTC. THEY WILL NOT TURN ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR CAUSE DRIVABILITY CONCERNS. IF YOU ENCOUNTER A PERMANENT DTC, IGNORE IT AND DIAGNOSE THE CURRENT STORED OR PENDING DTC.

Lift gate hinge nut concern - On effected vehicles, the tightening torque of lift gate hinge nuts at cabin side does not meet the specified value. Due to this, it may cause interference/noise with the body when closing/opening the lift gate, or water leakage may occur inside cabin. Originally the coincerned nuts are tightened to the specified torque at the production line. However, the thickness of the packing between the lift gate hinge and body shrinks slightly by heat during paint baking process, resulting in a lowered tightening torque.
