This noise will typically occur on first brake apply when the brakes are cold. Note: This condition may not be duplicated if the brakes are warm. Correction Replace the rear brake pads.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P06DE set in the Engine Control Module. P0651 may also be set in the ECM with the P06DE. Technician must follow published Service Information diagnostics for P06DE. If diagnostics lead to removing the oil pan or engine oil pressure is below specification when hot, to inspect the oil piston nozzles for damage. Technician should replace the broken oil nozzle(s) as long as the engine does not have any damage which warrants engine replacement.

This Preliminary information communicates the use of Winter grade fuel during the warm months of 2020 and the potential rivability issues that it can cause. The ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused significant reductions in driving and fuel use. Due to the surplus of winter grade fuel sitting in storage (pipelines/stations) the EPA is waiving the fuel vapor requirement. This will extend the use of winter fuel into the summer months. The drivability concerns should not be single events but should be multiple occurrences associated with hot days.

This Preliminary information communicates A vehicle may have a concern of running poor and stalling. No trouble codes may be set referencing this condition. Fuel trims around -20% may be observed on both banks. Engine oil level will be found over full and have a fuel odor. It will be found that the Engine oil is diluted with fuel. Small gas engines (SGE) May only have the engine oil level over full and have a fuel odor. It will be found that the Engine oil is diluted with fuel. This concern is caused by marshalling the vehicle around the lot before it is sold and/or short driver cycles.

Special Coverage. In certain vehicles an electrical connection may fail in the hybrid battery cooling blower motor. If this occurs, the control system may inhibit the electric propulsion motor, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) will illuminate, and a diagnostic trouble code related to the hybrid battery cooling blower motor will be set. Dealers are to replace the hybrid battery cooling blower motor if necessary. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

Special Coverage Adjustment - Certain 2016-2018 model year Chevrolet Malibu, 2017-2018 model year Buick LaCrosse, and 2018 model year Buick Regal vehicles may have a condition which affects the electrical connection to one of the vehicle?s accelerator pedal position sensors. If this electrical connection is interrupted, the accelerator pedal will still function, but the vehicle will enter a reduced engine power mode in which the vehicle?s maximum acceleration and torque are reduced. Additionally, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) will illuminate, the ?Engine Power is Reduced? message will display, and a diagnostic trouble code for Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Correlation (P2138) will be set when this condition occurs. Dealers are to replace the accelerator pedal and position sensor assembly as necessary and repair the engine wire harness (Malibu LFV only). The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
