Messages are displayed on the Instrument Panel Cluster poor heater performance after extended idling, or cruising at low revolutions per minute for extended period. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P00B7 or P2181 may be set in the Engine Control Module. Technician will need to check the water outlet for plastic flashing and/or debris by remove the water outlet attached to the rear of the cylinder head. Technician will need clean or replace the water outlet as needed.

The generator control module (GCM) may not function properly, resulting in the gradual loss of battery charge, illumination of the MIL, and eventual engine stall or no start condition. Dealers are to inspect and replace, if necessary, the GCM.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have a Service Charging System, Battery Saver message Or Malfunction Indicator Lamp on, and/or charging system inoperative. Technician will use Global Diagnostic System 2 and clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes in the Hybrid Powertrain Control Module and the Battery Energy Control Module. Then turn the ignition off for a minimum of 2 minutes to allow the high speed local area network and powertrain expansion bus to power down. Start the car and monitor the charging system voltage. If the charging system is still inoperative there may be a logic lock condition. Disconnect the 12V battery and perform a Global Capacitive Discharge and repeat steps again.

13013A - Service Update (revised service procedures ). The ring gasket may be pinched between the flanges on the inside diameter of the joint leading to a visible gap. As the pinched part of that gasket relaxes, clamp load is lost at that stud location. Dealers are to tighten all 4 exhaust manifold bolts.

The affected vehicles may exhibit noise due to pump cavitation, sluggish shifting and poor acceleration, or may require high engine RPM to engage drive or reverse or to move the vehicle. Dealers are to test drive the vehicles. If the test drive determines the condition is present, dealers are to replace the o-ring.
