Numerous unrelated DTCs are also stored in the system, including: P056200, P057100, P068700, P068A00, P162400, P190C00, U010000, U010100, U012100, U014600, U015500, U021200, U101100, U102600, U111100, U111300, U140000, VAG00003, VAG00185, VAG00263, VAG00317, VAG00384, VAG00446, VAG00456, VAG00457, VAG00466, VAG00473, VAG00532, VAG00565, VAG00591, VAG00714, VAG00819, VAG00955, VAG01217, VAG01299, VAG01314, VAG01315, VAG01317, VAG01320, VAG01330, VAG01331, VAG01332, VAG01334, VAG01333, VAG01336, VAG01705, VAG01964, VAG02067, VAG02072, VAG02095, VAG02103, VAG02203, VAG02214, VAG02635, VAG02812, VAG02874, VAG03041, VAG03157, VAG03166, VAG03220, VAG03278, and/or VAG03531. The motronic engine control module power supply relay, J271, is not functioning properly. Because the J271 relay controls battery voltage (Terminal 30) via a ground signal sent from the ECM, numerous faults can occur in multiple control modules when it is not functioning properly.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 69 number 13-26 dated October 21, 2013. After the airbag control module (J234) has been replaced, the control unit cannot be coded via SVM spec/actual. An SVM code is required to code and parameterize the new service replacement airbag control module. Each model's SVM code is provided in a parts bulletin (GP bulletin), which should have been referenced through ETKA when the module was replaced. The control module cannot be coded until the SVM code has been executed. If the SVM code was not acquired through the GP bulletin in ETKA, follow the instructions in the Service section of this bulletin to update the control module.

NHTSA source summary · Original PDF not reviewed by Recallfolio
The vehicle's anti-theft alarm sounds when the driver door is unlocked with a mechanical key. No DTCs are stored. The keyless remote was not used to unlock the vehicle. In order to minimize current draw after the ignition has been turned off, the electronics system of the vehicle goes into sleep mode. During this time, each module monitors the CAN bus more slowly than when the electronics system is awake. Because the system is being monitored more slowly, there is a delay in the waking of the central locking system. This delay causes a delay in the disabling of the anti-theft alarm system when the manual key is used. If the key is turned in less than a quarter of a second, the system can unlock the vehicle even though the anti-theft alarm has not been disabled.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-27 dated April 24, 2012. There is an unpleasant, musty odor coming from the heating and ventilation system. The odor usually occurs when the vehicle has been sitting unused for five hours or more. The odor usually occurs within 20 to 60 seconds after the vehicle is started. Condensation, which is a normal condition in all A/C systems, can cause a musty odor. If the odor is noticeable in the vehicle when the engine is not turned on, the cause may be mold and mildew in the passenger compartment, and not be related to the A/C system. All other possible sources of the odor must be investigated before this bulletin can be performed.

In tank, fuel pump may be making a straining noise. Diesel fuel requires additive blending or ?winterization? to be useable at low temperatures. At temperatures below 20° F (-7° C), No. 2 Diesel with insufficient winterization blending may lose its fluidity due to wax separation. This may clog the fuel filter or in-tank filter, preventing the engine from operating properly. No. 2 Diesel is blended by refineries to various levels of winterization (minimum useable temperature) based on month, geographical location, and the 10th percentile minimum ambient air temperature for the given region. Although rare, during sudden periods of extreme low temperatures (record lows), fuel stations may not be adequately prepared with No. 2 Diesel fuel with sufficient winterization to resist wax formation or ?gelling?.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 57 number 13-87 dated March 27, 2013. The door cannot be opened from outside with the outer door handle, but it can be opened with the inner handle. The complaint is often described as follows: The customer locks the vehicle and checks by pulling the door handle whether the vehicle is locked. When opening the vehicle again, the door cannot be opened. It feels as if the handle is slack. When fitting the Bowden cable from the mounting bar to the door lock, the cable can get kinked. In some cases, this can increase the inner friction of the strand in the Bowden cable. As a result, the door lock stays in pressed position or does not completely return to its zero position. When the Bowden cable gets twisted during the installation, the rubber grommets can get distorted. Consequently, the Bowden cable has a too-high inner friction and the door lock does not move to the zero position.

After diagnosis, it is determined that the source of the wind noise is the exterior rear view mirrors. The two main sources of wind noise from the exterior rear view mirrors are: the seam surrounding the turn signal lamp and the seam at the mirror base. The modifications explained in the Service section of this bulletin will effectively mitigate the wind noise symptom for the customer.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 44 number 12-32 dated August 2, 2012. Wheel bolt requires torque adjustment. Torque sticks, torque extension bars, and impact guns/wrenches are not approved by Audi of America, Inc., and should not be used to apply torque to wheel bolts. Always use a calibrated torque wrench to attain the correct wheel bolt torque and follow the proper wheel tightening procedure as outlined in Elsa. Proper use of a calibrated torque wrench ensures that all wheel bolts are tightened equally and reduces the chances of repeat repairs. Using methods other than a calibrated torque wrench to attain correct wheel bolt torque may lead to problems.

The customer reports hearing a rattling or knocking noise when the car is driven over bumps or uneven road surfaces. The noise is noticed after the car has been driven for a while and is warmed-up, and when the temperature outside is warm. The condition can be duplicated if the brakes are applied while the car is driven over bumps. High ambient temperatures at the hydraulic guide links cause the noise.

The "ignition lock faulty" message can be triggered by many different DTC entries. Presence of the message does not indicate that the ignition switch is faulty; the message typically has a different root cause. Replacing the ignition switch before completing GFF test plans typically does not correct the condition.
