Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 12-26 dated March 28, 2012. The customer may report that after selecting a specific temperature in AUTO mode, the resulting airflow and temperature are uncomfortable. The customer complaint is subjective and may be difficult to diagnose during a road test. Please test drive with the customer before as well as after this repair to ensure a thorough understanding of the customer? s concern. At certain outside temperatures and operating conditions, the temperature in the passenger compartment fluctuates. This is caused by the unventilated sensor in the air conditioning control panel. There may also be DTCs stored for mechanical malfunction of one or more air distribution control motors in (08) air conditioning/heating control unit.

Under extreme driving conditions, such as a driving profile of mainly short distance (stop and go) driving high crankcase pressure can lead to the above described DTC codes. By changing the crankcase pressure valve to a lower operating pressure this condition can be improved and eliminate the mentioned possible DTC codes. Along with the crankcase pressure being lowered, a new ECM software level is required to compensate for new crankcase pressure.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 94 number 11-52 dated October 11, 2011. Condensation is visible on the inside of the headlight, taillight, fog light, side marker light, front turn signal, daytime running lights, or third brake light lens. Damp air settles on the inside of a cold lens, which creates condensation. The headlight circulation system allows air from the outside to flow through the headlights. This open waterprotected ventilation system (needed for pressure compensation) creates different climate zones in the headlight: very warm areas, where the lens is warmed up by the light, and relatively cool areas, where the lens is cooled own by the air flow. Considerable differences in humidity and temperature between the inside and the outside of the headlights, even while driving, can lead to condensation. This is especially true in cold and wet weather, but it can also happen after a car wash, after steam cleaning the engine or the front end, with overnight temperature changes, etc. This phenomenon is more visible on lenses made of clear glass than on lenses with patterns. The moisture does not affect the headlight function (light performance) and does not lead to corrosion or other damage to headlight parts.

The customer may state the yellow warning for electric parking brake (EPB) appeared once in the instrument cluster, but the warning turned OFF after cycling the ignition and there have been no additional occurrences. The customer may state the adaptive cruise control (ACC) was inoperative once, but resumed operating properly after cycling the ignition and there have been no additional occurrences. DTC is stored in the EPB module. Internal code Param_InterFaultID 24 or 25 may be in the extended environmental conditions. The concern is due to a software glitch in the EPB control module. Concerns related to this software glitch can only occur once. Replacing the EPB module may cause an additional occurrence.

MIL on. DTCs for the cam actuators are stored in ECM memory. After the activation of the cam actuator to change to the other cam profile, the pin of the actuator is pushed back in by the cam. This is confirmed by a voltage impulse, which is registered by the engine control unit and confirms the operation. If this does not happen, or not at the right time, a DTC "implausible signal" is saved in ECM memory. Check the distance of the pin tip of the cam actuator for valve lift system to the camshaft when it is not operated with a gauge. The measurement of the tip to the basic camshaft circle outside of the groove must be taken. If this measurement is 0.9mm, the actuator 06E103697J must be installed. The actuator 06E103697J must only be used, if the measurement is 0.9mm or bigger.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 91 number 11 ? 83 dated April 15, 2011. The customer may report that the illumination of the dash insert, the air conditioning control panel or the inside light flickers when briefly pressing the accelerator in P or N or when shifting down while driving downhill. Only vehicles with PR number 8GH may be affected. When high electricity consumers are switched off and the battery is fully charged, the energy generated by the alternator is sometimes too great for the power system to absorb. This may lead to briefly increased voltage, and the lights mentioned above may briefly flicker. This characteristic is caused by the alternator design and is a normal condition of the vehicle.

This communication is to inform you of Update 48K4. On Audi vehicles with electromechanical power steering manufactured within a specific period, an irregularity detected by the diagnosis function can result in an implausible status immediately after the engine is started. This causes the warning lamp for the electromechanical power steering to light up. There is no loss of steering functionality. Update the power steering control module (J500) software.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 10 number 12 ? 08 dated September 5, 2012. Engine oil consumption too high. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. Refer to the Owner?s Manual for specific break-in procedures. Under normal conditions, the rate of oil consumption depends on the quality and viscosity of the oil, the RPM at which the engine is operated, the ambient temperature, and road conditions. Additional factors are the amount of oil dilution from water condensation or fuel residue and the oxidation level of the oil. Under certain driving conditions internal engine pressure conditions in the 3.0 TFSI engine can negatively influence the rate of oil consumption. This condition can occur while the vehicle is operated in metro driving conditions, for example: Stop and go traffic with extended idle periods.

Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 90 number 12 ? 34 dated September 21, 2012. When driving, various warning lights come on, sometimes with restricted functions in the electric system. These complaints only occur together with complaints or a failure of the MMI 3G+ infotainment system. After an ignition cycle the complaint is typically gone; therefore, it may not be reproducible. Sporadic DTCs may be present for communication errors, restricted functions, or missing/incorrect messages. If the MMI 3G+ has an issue, the data bus control unit (Gateway) tries to maintain the communication to the MMI. The load on the unit is so high that other messages on the bus systems cannot be processed any more. As a remedy, modified software can be installed on the Gateway which does not communicate to the MMI 3G+ when it is unavailable.
