When replacing the complete vehicle lock set (all vehicle keys and lock cylinders) for any reason, be aware that the ?Adapt keys? test plan will not allow the new keys to adapt to the vehicle. Instead, perform the test plan for ?New identity?. During this test plan, make the appropriate selection to indicate only the lock set has been replaced, as shown below in figures 1 and 2.

To detect which line(s) is inoperative, utilize a volt meter to check for 0 V, which will be present after the open in the grid line. The check must be performed with the engine running and heated rear window switched on. Switch OFF the ignition and visually locate the damage. Proceed with checking any other lines as necessary. Once the damaged line is identified, repair utilizing the Repair kit by Permatex® ITEM 09117.

Turn the ignition key to the START position. If the engine does not crank but a clicking noise can be heard from the starter, install a jumper cable from the battery negative cable to the engine block and attempt to start the engine again. If the engine now cranks perform the following Repair Procedure A. If it still does not crank, perform Repair Procedure B.
