Once repairs are completed, learned values in ECM must be deleted. In order to provide effective lubrication and cooling of internal engine components, all internal combustion engines consume a certain amount of engine oil. Oil consumption varies from engine to engine and may change significantly over the life of the engine. Typically, engines with specified break-in periods consume more oil during the break-in period, and the oil consumption will stabilize after the break-in period. A few customers have advised that they are unable to fuel their vehicle at their preferred fueling stations or that it now takes a very long time to refuel. Volkswagen believes the root cause is attributed to damage and/or variances in diesel fuel nozzles found at fueling stations. At this time, Volkswagen has no evidence to conclude that there is any problem with the misfueling guard. Dealers should continue performing Service Action 20T8 on vehicles that show the code open in ElsaWeb.
