Technical Bulletin (Fuel Additive to Help Prevent Sporadic Misfire Faults): Fuel quality impacts the operating performance, efficiency and service life of the engine. The use of poor quality fuels may result in deposit build up on the fuel injectors and intake valves. This may result in a rough running condition, sporadic misfires, or cold start misfire faults storing in the ECM fault memory. This document informs a Volkswagen approved fuel additive is available to help remove and prevent deposits on fuel injectors and intake valves.

Technical Bulletin (Front Seat Creaking Noise): Creaking noise can be heard from front seat while driving over bumps, driving aggressively, or while getting out of the vehicle. On the outboard side of the front seats there is a link tab that is contacting the seat frame. The gap between this tab and the seat frame should be a minimum of 1mm which was not taking place. The production solution for this issue was that the Supplier has corrected the production process to create the proper gap between the link tab and the seat frame. This document discusses the "Fault Codes" necessary to diagnosis, and potential remedy of the issue. The fault codes for checking warranty coverage for servicing the vehicle are also available.

Disconnect both O2 sensors (front and rear), start engine and let idle. Check MVB's 41/4 and 136/4 and verify have both changed from a 1 to a 0 (you may have to drive the car 4 miles to get them to reset to 0). Also a key cycle may be required for values to reset. This forces the ECM to re-learn the O2 sensor adaptation. Once MVB 41/4 and 136/4 read 0, re-connect the O2 sensors, road test and recheck for faults.

Update Bulletin

NHTSA source summary · Original PDF not reviewed by Recallfolio

UPDATE Technical Bulletin (TDI Battery Management Software): The battery can become discharged when the ECM "wakes-up" the CAN bus to do a diagnostic (~9 hours after vehicle shut-off). During that diagnostic time-window, if the door is opened or the ignition is switched ON, the ECM goes into a mode that can continuously wake-up the CAN bus, leading to excessive parasitic draw and a discharged battery while the vehicle is parked. This update has been proactively released to prevent the battery from becoming discharged due to a unique set of circumstances during the CAN bus diagnostic phase, leading to excessive parasitic draw and a discharged battery while the vehicle is parked.
