The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system alerts the driver of a possible collision using an indication in the display and a warning sound when the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) detects a vehicle ahead and determines that a collision with a vehicle ahead is imminent. In addition, the system reduces damage in the event of a collision by operating the brake control when the system determines that a collision is unavoidable. It may also be possible to avoid a collision depending on the relative speed between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. In addition, when the driver depresses the brake pedal, the brakes are applied firmly and quickly to assist.

In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer?s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometerand related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the ?SpeedometerReplacement Label?.Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda?s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO?s services, a Mazda dealer can get the odometer setting updated to reflect the correct mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs, therefore resulting in a higher level of customer satisfaction. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.

Some customers may claim that it is impossible or difficult to view the Active Driving Display, even if the position of the display is adjusted through the Settings screen. This is caused by an incorrectly learned zero-point (closed position) of the Active Driving Display. The main reason this happens is because an object (e.g. gloves, paper, etc. ) was placed in the storage area where the mirror and optical receiver are housed. If an object is detected (i.e., jammed) when the Active Driving Display closes after switching the ignition OFF, the system determines this as abnormal and stops the closing operation, leaving the Active Driving Display in an open position. When the engine is started the next time, correction of the zero-point is automatically performed. If the object is still in the storage area during the correction, the system learns the incorrect position as the zero-point. As a result, the zero-point position largely deviates from the standard position; therefore, it becomes impossible to view the Active Driving Display from the normal view position.

Some vehicles may exhibit one or more of the following noises from the front suspension. A squeaking noise from the front shock absorber when turning the steering wheel at a vehicle standstill caused by stick-slip between the front strut bearing and the coil spring. A popping noise from the front shock absorber when passing over speed bumps caused by the bump stopper contacting the strut bearing when the shock absorber is compressed. A creaking noise from the lower arm when driving over road bumps at 20-40 km/h caused by stick-slip of the front lower arm bushing. The noise occurs when the road surface is wet or after a car washing, and becomes more noticeable as the speed bump gets higher. To correct these problems, the following changes have been made. For the squeaking and popping noise, the shape of the bump stopper has been modified and a protector has been installed onto the coil spring. For the creaking noise, the friction of the lower arm bushing has been reduced by adding a dry coating.

SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A KNOCKING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING OVER A ROAD BUMP. THIS MAY BE CAUSED BY THE BUMP STOP (BOUND STOPPER) FOR THE REAR SHOCK ABSORBER COMING OUT OF THE MOUNTING RUB-BER. TO ELIMINATE THE CONCERN, THE BONDING AGENT AND THE AREA TO BE COVERED HAVE BEEN CHANGED TO INCREASE THE BONDING STRENGTH BETWEEN THE BUMP STOP (BOUND STOPPER) AND MOUNTING RUBBER.

SOME VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A CONDITION IN EXTREMELY COLD TEMPERATURES (BELOW FREEZING) WHERE THE HATCHBACK WILL NOT LATCH (HALF LATCH) WHEN CLOSING. THIS IS CAUSED BY THE STOPPER RUBBER, A COMPONENT OF THE LIFTGATE LATCH AND LOCK ACTUATOR (A), HARDENING WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS BELOW FREEZING. THE STOPPER RUBBER HAS NOW BEEN IMPROVED TO ELIMINATE THIS CONCERN.

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMPLAIN THAT IN EXTREME COLD WEATHER CONDITIONS, THE SUNROOF MAY SUDDENLY OPEN BY ITSELF WHEN THE HEATER IS ON. THIS CONCERN MAY BE DUE TO A SHORT IN THE SUNROOF SWITCH (A) CAUSED FROM CONDEN-SATION GENERATED BETWEEN THE ROOF PANEL AND THE SEAL. TO ELIMINATE THIS CONCERN IN THE FUTURE, A PROTECTIVE FILM HAS BEEN INSTALLED TO THE SWITCH AND A PAD INSTALLED TO THE HARNESS.
