This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician to replace the right hand lift-gate strut on 2007-2016 GMC Acadia and 2007-2010 Saturn Outlook if a clunk or pop is heard. If the vehicle is an 2008-2016 Buick Enclave and 2009-2016 Chevrolet Traverse and If the struts are not weak and can hold the lift-gate open, the struts should NOT be replaced and this noise should be considered a normal condition. With the new strut installed the lift-gate noise should mimic levels currently heard on the 2009-2016 Traverse and 2008-2016 Enclave as some noise is still considered normal. Low ambient temperatures will still contribute to making this condition worse and the amount of noise may also vary between vehicles.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician with information regarding high misfire rates always on #1 cylinder. A customer may complain of misfires or roughness on cold start up with a P0300 diagnostic trouble code. Technician is to add coolant dye to the system and run the engine through warm up to circulate the dye. Pressurize the cooling system after a cold soak and inspect the cylinder with a bore scope for coolant dye. Dye is used to identify coolant over residual fuel being that might be left in the cylinder. The technician is not to replace the cylinder head as it will not correct this concern. In some cases it is necessary to remove the head for inspection. Do not replace the engine for small surface pock marks or a pitting appearance this is normal and do not connect to coolant passages. Usually if porosity is present there will be a break in the carbon ring. Only replace the engine if true porosity is found. Technician is to call Product Quality Center with the latest version of bulletin 02-07-30-029 if porosity is found and engine replacement is required.

Certain vehicles, that have had an engine replacement may have the wrong torque applied to front cradle-to-body bolts (M14) and front cradle stabilizer brackets-to-body bolts (M10). The Engine Replacement Service Procedure in the vehicle Service Information instructs technicians to use improper torque values when reattaching the cradle. Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated - DTC P3409 and/or P3433 Condition Some customers may comment that the MIL is illuminated. The technician may find one or more of the following DTCs set: P3409 P3433 Cause This condition may be caused by a wiring issue with both/either the cylinder 2 deactivation solenoid oil control valve circuit and/or the cylinder 5 deactivation solenoid oil control valve circuit. These codes may be active or stored in history. This may also be a repeat concern. Correction Note: When replacing the solenoids, ensure there are no terminal issues at the connector. To correct this condition, refer to the information below: If vehicle was built between 4/13/2017 and 8/7/2017, it will be necessary to replace both right and left bank Cylinder Deactivation Solenoids (AFM OCV). If vehicle was built outside the date range, check for any terminal issues at the connector. If no trouble found, follow SI diagnostics for the applicable DTC.

Lane Keep Assist works differently than Lane Departure Warning. The Lane Keep Assist icon is solid amber, Forward Camera Module is actively commanding a torque to Electronic Power Steering. This means that the driver should also feel some feedback from the steering wheel. No Chimes or haptic in the seat. Lane Keep Assist icon is flashing amber; Forward Camera Module is actively commanding torque to Electronic Power Steering. This will also be accompanied with Lane Departure Warning chimes and haptic in the seat feedback based on the setting chosen in the vehicle settings.
