SETTING THE CORRECT TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE IS AN IMPORTANT STEP IN THE PRE-DELIVERY PROCESS AND DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE INTERVALS. RECENT CUSTOMER CLINICS REVEALED THAT MOST EVERY VEHICLE IN THE CLINICS HAD THE TIRE PRESSURES SET INCORRECTLY. TIRE PRESSURES FROM THE FACTORY ARE NOT SET TO THE CORRECT SPECIFICATION. MAINTAINING THE CORRECT TIRE PRESSURE IS KEY TO THE RIDE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE AND AFFECTS RIDE QUALITY, HANDLING, LOAD CAPACITY AND TIRE WEAR. THE RECOMMENDED PRESSURE SETTINGS CAN BE FOUND ON THE TIRE INFORMATION LABEL IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR JAM. DO NOT USE THE TIRE PRESSURES LISTED ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRES. MAINTAINING THE TIRE PRESSURE IS PART OF NORMAL MAINTENANCE. IT SHOULD BE RECHECKED MONTHLY, PER THE OWNER GUIDE AND DURING THE RECOMMENDED TIRE ROTATION INTERVALS.

Some vehicles may have a concern where the safety belt retractor webbing does not extract from the stowed position or exhibits excessive pressure on the occupant during use. This may be due to a normal condition which happens when the seatbelt retracts at a high rate of speed. The Workshop Manual, Section 501-20A General Procedures has been updated with a locked seatbelt retractor releasing procedure.

Diesel customers may inquire about a Distance to Empty (DTE) warning message for the DEF system. It may be necessary to add up to 2.5 gallons of DEF for the system to detect a refill event and clear the DTE warning messages, however it is recommended to fill the tank to capacity, which may take up to 5 gallons. Driving conditions that increase fuel consumption will increase DEF consumption and will require additional fills between oil change intervals. If the DTE message is displayed and no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) are present, read the Reduct_TNK_LV PID with the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS). If it reads less than 100%, DEF must be added. If the message doesnt clear after the PID reads 100%, run the IDS SCR System Refill Activation routine.

The Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual has been revised for diagnosing electronic throttle bodies (ETBs). The ETC_ACT and ETC_DSD PIDs should not used to diagnose possible ETB concerns. The IDS has a limited refresh rate when reading these PIDs and cannot display quickly enough to validate a concern. The PCM automatically monitors these inputs more accurately and will set diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) when appropriate. Using these PIDs for diagnostics will lead to inaccurate results and improper ETB replacements. If a concern is intermittent and no DTCs are present, refer to historical DTCs and the PC/ED, Section 3 No DTCs Present Index chart for further information.

Some 2016-2017 Escape, MKC, Fiesta, F150, Expedition, Navigator, Mustang, Transit, Focus, C-Max, MKX, Taurus, MKS, Flex, MKT, and Edge and 2017 Explorer, Fusion, MKZ, Super Duty, Transit Connect and Continental vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 might exhibit a blank screen or other various SYNC symptoms only when the vehicle is in Transport mode. Engineering is aware of this possibility and it is considered normal due to the power saving features enabled while in transportation mode. It is beneficial to extended battery life to keep the vehicle in Transport Mode until the vehicle is prepped for sale. If the vehicle should exhibit a blank screen or other SYNC symptoms after it has been taken out of Transport mode, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 415-00 for normal diagnosis. The SYNC version can be confirmed via OASIS.

Some 2016-2017 Transit full-size hubcaps may be damaged or cracked during pre-delivery installation or a repair procedure due to misalignment of the hubcap. To avoid damage, align the valve stem opening in the hubcap with the valve stem, confirming the lug nut tubes on the back of the hubcap are aligned with the lug nuts. Using a mallet gently tap the hubcap around the outer diameter; avoid hitting the center of the hubcap during installation. Please bring this message to the attention of the per-delivery technicians.

Some 2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 and navigation may exhibit a condition in which the SiriusXM Traffic Listing is not loading but all remaining Travel Link features operate properly. SiriusXM Traffic is only available on vehicles equipped with navigation, only in select markets and requires an active subscription to SiriusXM Traffic information. If SiriusXM Traffic will not load attempt the following procedure. Turn the ignition off, open and close the drivers door, wait for 3 minutes, then drive the vehicle outside to obtain a clear view of the sky. SiriusXM Traffic should recover. If SiriusXM Traffic does not recover continue to monitor OASIS for future updates. Engineering is aware of this concern and no component replacement or any software re-flashes should be performed at this time. The SYNC version can be confirmed via OASIS.

2015-2017 - F-SUPER DUTY, F-650/750 WITH 6.7L DIESEL AND 2015-2017 TRANSIT - 3.2L DIESEL EQUIPPED VEHICLES USE A SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION (SCR) SYSTEM DESIGNED TO REDUCE THE VEHICLES EXHAUST EMISSIONS. THE DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID (DEF) TANK IS FILLED TO SPECIFICATION AT THE ASSEMBLY PLANT. DEALERS ARE NOT INSTRUCTED TO CHECK OR TOP OFF THE DEF FLUID ON THE PRE-DELIVERY INSPECTION (PDI) SERVICE RECORD (CHECK SHEET) AND ARE THEREFORE NOT AUTHORIZED TO TOP-OFF THE TANKS DURING PDI. THE VEHICLE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER IS DESIGNED TO INDICATE WHEN THE DEF IS LOW (EXHAUST FLUID LOW OR EXHAUST FLUID EMPTY). THE SCR SYSTEM SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FOR REPAIR AT PDI ONLY IF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER MESSAGE CENTER INDICATES THAT THERE IS DEF SYSTEM FAULT OR LOW FLUID LEVEL.
