This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that are travelling from Canada to the United States. While in the United States they are unable to receive Turn-by-Turn directions. Due to the existing cellular provider not having roaming agreements in areas outside of Canada to support transmitting of the packet data required for Turn-By-Turn feature to operate. The customer has 3 options while traveling through the United Sates. First if the vehicle is equipped with a navigation radio they can request a "Destination Download" to the vehicle. Second if the customer uses the OnStar RemoteLink app they can send the directions to the vehicle. The third option would be to have the vehicle loaded with a "500 phone number" The customer will no longer be able to use their Hands Free Calling minutes when the new 500 phone number is loaded. If a customer chooses to restore Hands Free Calling in the future a new phone number will be assigned to the vehicle; previous phone numbers are not available.

14371B - SPECIAL COVERAGE (LABOR CODE REVISED). SOME 2011-2014 MODEL YEAR CHEVROLET CRUZE VEHICLES AND SOME 2012-2014 CHEVROLET SONIC VEHICLES WITH THE 1.4L ENGINE MAY HAVE AN ENGINE COOLANT LEAK FROM THE WATER PUMP. THE PUMP MAY LEAK FROM THE WEEP RESERVOIR OR FROM THE WATER PUMP SHAFT SEAL, LEADING TO A DRIP OF COOLANT ONTO THE ENGINE OR ONTO THE GROUND. OVER TIME, THE LOSS OF COOLANT WILL REDUCE COOLING PERFORMANCE AND EVENTUALLY COULD LEAD TO ENGINE OVERHEATING. IF THIS CONDITION IS NOT CORRECTED, THE “SERVICE ENGINE” INDICATOR LIGHT MAY COME ON, AN “ENGINE HOT, AC OFF” MESSAGE MAY APPEAR, A CHIME MAY SOUND, AND THE ENGINE POWER MAY BE REDUCED. IF THE CONDITION OCCURS WITHIN THE SPECIAL COVERAGE TERMS,, THE WATER PUMP WILL BE REPLACED IF LEAKING.

14614 - SERVICE UPDATE. REPLACE SUSPECT TRANSMISSIONS ON SUSPECT VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION (RPO MYC). THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A TRANSMISSION-DURABILITY ISSUE DUE TO IMPROPERLY HEAT TREATED LONG-PINION GEARS, WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED BELOW SPECIFICATION FOR SURFACE HARDNESS. OVER TIME, THE GEAR MAY BEGIN TO YIELD AND THEN BREAK, WHICH CAN CAUSE GEAR TEETH TO BECOME DETACHED. IF THIS OCCURS, TRANSMISSION NOISE MAY RESULT, AND THE DRIVER COULD EXPERIENCE REDUCED VEHICLE MOBILITY. A TOTAL OF EIGHT VEHICLES ARE INVOLVED.

14371A - SPECIAL COVERAGE (REVISED WARRANTY INFORMATION). SOME VEHICLES WITH THE 1.4L ENGINE MAY HAVE AN ENGINE COOLANT LEAK FROM THE WATER PUMP. IF THE CONDITION OCCURS WITHIN THE STATED SPECIAL COVERAGE TERMS, THE WATER PUMP WILL BE REPLACED IF LEAKING.

The third option would be to have the vehicle loaded with a ?500 phone number? The customer will no longer be able to use their Hands Free Calling minutes when the new 500 phone number is loaded. If a customer chooses to restore Hands Free Calling in the future a new phone number will be assigned to the vehicle; previous phone numbers are not available.
