Odometer setup at the electronic service center (ESC) when using an exchange IPC/DIC. 3. Tech 2® The Tech 2 is used to set up a replacement BCM, which includes loading the odometer value that is displayed and stored in the IPC. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vibration complaints that are one of the most challenging complaints to accurately diagnose and repair. Technician will need to use Pico Oscilloscope Diagnostic Kit to effectively diagnosis vehicles. Technician should drive the vehicle will using the Pico Oscilloscope to record data. After the data is recorded it should be reviewed to determine the root cause of the concern. If a repair attempt made the concern better but not eliminated or had no affect at all, and are requesting assistance from General Motors Technical Assistance Center record another Pico file and save it to the computer. After the new Pico Oscilloscope data has been saved email the data to General Motors Technical Assistance Center in the subject line include ?Vibration? ?Business Associate Code? and the last 8 of the Vehicle Identification Number.

There is a unique black plastic oil sleeve that is between the end of the cam actuator and the camshaft. This sleeve directs oil into the actuator to adjust the timing. If the sleeve is damaged or missing, the engine control module cannot control the cam actuator movement and will set the diagnostic trouble codes.

CERTAIN 2014 MODEL YEAR BUICK VERANO AND CHEVROLET SONIC VEHICLES MAY HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH OUT OF SPECIFICATION UNDERHOOD CLINCH JOINTS WERE REPLACED WITH RIVETS AT THE TIME OF MANUFACTURE. THESE RIVETS WERE NOT TREATED WITH CORROSION PROTECTION AND MAY ALSO EXHIBIT POOR PAINT FINISH QUALITY. THE LACK OF CORROSION PROTECTION MAY LEAD TO SURFACE CORROSION. THE POOR PAINT FINISH MAY BE A CUSTOMER QUALITY PERCEPTION CONCERN. DEALERS ARE TO INSPECT THE UNDERHOOD PANEL FOR COMPLETENESS OF RIVET INSTALLATION, APPLY CORROSION PROTECTION TO THE INSTALLED RIVETS, AND REFINISH THE REPAIR AREA.

This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician about the calculation and operation of the engine oil life monitor. The monitor calculates the percent of oil life remaining, based on 3 pathways. The first pathway for oil life calculation is engine revolutions. The second pathway for oil life calculation is the mileage form the last rest for all General Motors powertrains except the Volt. The third pathway for oil life calculation is the amount of time the oil is in the engine. The Volt uses a 2 year timer instead of 1 year. It also uses the engine revolution counter. It does not use the mileage pathway to count down.
