This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have an intermittent "Check Trailer Wiring" or "Service Trailer Brake" message on the Driver Information Center. Technician will inspect and clean the ground wire (normally white wire) connection on the trailer side of the 7-pin connector. Inspect that the wires inside the trailer side connector are clean and securely fastened. If the vehicle?s 7-way connector socket terminals are deformed or have excessive wear, it will be necessary to replace the truck side connector with part number 23404450.

Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P2537 and/or P129D set. Technician will need to Use a voltmeter and check circuit 5985 at the Engine Control Module and Transmission Control Module. If no or low voltage is found, use the wiring diagram in Service Information and perform normal circuit diagnosis.

Certain vehicles equipped with Body Color Grille (RPO TC7) and Cold Weather Provision Options (RPO V10), may have a condition in which customers are unable to install the winter grille cover due to incorrect clip orientation and position. The grille cover is used to increase under hood temperatures, and improve HVAC performance in cold temperatures. In cold conditions, the interior cabin heating may take longer than expected. Dealers are to replace the winter grille cover.

There is a purple Terminal Position Assurance that will align itself in the release position when the release tool is inserted into the release hole.
