This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about the percentage of UV protection or tint offered by the windshield or side glass. Technician should be advised Windshield reduces UV rays down to 4% or less. Front side door glass reduces UV rays down to 35% or less. Windshields are SOLAR glass with a light transmittance of >/=70%. Front door glass are Solar glass with a light transmission of >/=70%. Rear door glass, quarter windows and back windows can use either Solar glass (>/=70%) or Privacy glass, which has a light transmittance of 20%.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an OnStar system that will not power up. Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down, remove power to the OnStar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle. If the OnStar system is still inoperative continue with published Service Information diagnostics. Technician may need to contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center depending on the STID, Station ID, or OnStar Customer Identifier.

13283 - Service Update. An analysis of engine build data revealed that there could be a durability issue with the engines originally installed in these vehicles. To ensure the highest quality and best ownership experience for our customers, these engines need to be replaced prior to vehicle delivery.This bulletin provides a service procedure to replace the engine assembly on certain vehicles equipped with 4 cylinder engine (RPO LCV or LKW). Due to a casting error, these vehicles may have engine pistons that are dimensionally incorrect. Over time, contact between the cylinder valves and the piston could result in engine noise, rough running and/or bent valves.

If Diagnostic Trouble Code C0710 Sym 71 is set it must be addressed first before performing a steering gear ?set-up? in Service Programming System. This Preliminary Information communication provides the technician with the steps to diagnose and repair the concern of mildew odor or water on front floor on either side of the vehicle. Technician will gain access to the front wheelhouse of the affected side. The front wheel house flange may have a void in the sealer causing water to leak through and accumulate on the floor or wet carpet will be found. A thumb grade sealer will need to be placed in the void to prevent the water leak into the cabin.
