This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have oil mixed in with the engine coolant. Technician will need to inspect the oil cooler if equipped for possible leaking into the cooling system through the radiator. If no issue found replace the engine as well as all rubber coolant hoses. Also updated to include ALL HFV6 engines Gen1 and Gen2.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have a Service Engine Soon Malfunction Indicator Lamp. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Code P06DE set in the Engine Control Module. P0651 may also be set in the ECM with the P06DE. Technician must follow published Service Information diagnostics for P06DE. If diagnostics lead to removing the oil pan or engine oil pressure is below specification when hot, to inspect the oil piston nozzles for damage. Technician should replace the broken oil nozzle(s) as long as the engine does not have any damage which warrants engine replacement.

This Preliminary information communicates that a customer may come to the dealer with a complaint of a hum, drone or pulsing type noise at times. On investigation the dealer may discover that this concern only occurs when the customer is driving with one or both rear windows down or one front window down. The dealer is instructed to advise the customer that if this is occurring with rear windows down to open a front window or the sunroof (if equipped) or if it is occurring with a front window down to open the other front window or the sunroof (if equipped) to alleviate this concern.
