Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) Illuminated - DTC P3409 and/or P3433 Condition Some customers may comment that the MIL is illuminated. The technician may find one or more of the following DTCs set: P3409 P3433 Cause This condition may be caused by a wiring issue with both/either the cylinder 2 deactivation solenoid oil control valve circuit and/or the cylinder 5 deactivation solenoid oil control valve circuit. These codes may be active or stored in history. This may also be a repeat concern. Correction Note: When replacing the solenoids, ensure there are no terminal issues at the connector. To correct this condition, refer to the information below: If vehicle was built between 4/13/2017 and 8/7/2017, it will be necessary to replace both right and left bank Cylinder Deactivation Solenoids (AFM OCV). If vehicle was built outside the date range, check for any terminal issues at the connector. If no trouble found, follow SI diagnostics for the applicable DTC.

This Preliminary information communicates that a customer may bring a vehicle in with a complaint of the Heads Up Display (HUD) frozen or inoperative. The dealer technician may find the HUD inoperative and may find no communication with the HUD and/or DTC U1518. This Preliminary Information communicates to thetechnician that some customers may comment on the operation of their haptic seat during a Lane Keep Assist event. Lane Keep Assist works differently than Lane Departure Warning. The Lane Keep Assist icon is solid amber, Forward Camera Module is actively commanding a torque to Electronic Power Steering. This means that the driver should also feel some feedback from the steering wheel. No Chimes or haptic in the seat. Lane Keep Assist icon is flashing amber; Forward Camera Module is actively commanding torque to Electronic Power Steering. This will also be accompanied with Lane Departure Warning chimes and haptic in the seat feedback based on the setting chosen in the vehicle settings. This will take place when the vehicle has crossed lane marking by (40 cm) or (15.75 in).

Forward Collision Alert Inoperative, Unwanted Application of Emergency Brakes and/or Adaptive Cruise Control Drops Out Condition Some customers may comment on one or more of the following conditions: Forward Collision Alert (red light and alarm) is late or does not come occur. Vehicle applies emergency brakes with no vehicle in front in areas with overhead structures. Adaptive Cruise control drops out in barren landscape areas. Adaptive Cruise Control Temporarily Unavailable message appears in the IP. Cause This condition may be due to one of the following: Software occasionally takes longer than normal to identify a potential collision situation. Radar reflections look like an actual vehicle causing a brief activation of brakes. Radar does not see enough reflections so it assumes it is blocked and goes offline. Correction An updated software calibration has been released to address these conditions. A learn procedure (service alignment or service calibration) is not required.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician that when scanning a vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes, may find a temporary loss of Human Machine Interface communication with Global Diagnostic System 2. Technician should not replace the Human Machine Interface for this concern, power cycling of the Human Machine Interface fuse should restore communication. Technician should be advised that the Human Machine Interface and Global Diagnostic System 2 interaction concern has been reported to engineering for root cause and correction.
