Front Collision Warning Check Control Message Displayed in CID. Occasionally while driving, a check control message (CCM) for Front Collision Warning is displayed in the Central Information Display (CID). This message is cleared from the CID by clicking on "OK" using the iDrive controller. CAUSE The KAFAS (camera-based driver support system) camera is affected by environmental conditions such as: * Direct sunlight (sunrise or sunset) * Rain * Fog * Dirt * Snow * Ice * High interior temperatures (may also cause a CCM to be displayed upon starting the vehicle) ?? Fault code 0x800AC0 - KAFAS camera switch off due to over temperature The pictures below show the direct sunlight causing the CCM: INFORMATION This is the current text in the Owner's Manual for the Front Collision Warning (FCW): The system may not be fully functional in the following situations: * In heavy fog, rain, sprayed with water or snowfall * In tight curves * If the driving stability control systems are limited or deactivated: for example, the DSC is off. * If the camera view field of the front windshield is dirty or covered. * Up to 10 seconds after the start of the engine, via the Start/Stop knob. Direct sunlight will be added as one of the causes for the FCW CCM.

HV Battery: End of Service Test Failed. Following any HV battery repairs on the I01, it is necessary to validate the repair using the End of Service (EOS) Tester. In the following scenarios, the EOS test is not completed successfully, despite the repair being completed properly. In these cases, the HV battery cannot be reactivated. 1. Faults stored in the SME: Following an HV battery repair, the EOS test fails due to faults stored in the battery management electronics (SME) from the previous failure, before the repair took place. In this scenario, the test will fail immediately after starting, at the point where the SME fault memory is read. 2. Activation code: Upon successfully completing the EOS test, an 11-digit code is displayed, yet ISTA/D requires a 12-digit code to reactivate the battery. The EOS tester was distributed to all BMW centers via the Automatic Tool Shipment program. Details can be found in SI B04 09 14. CAUSE Software error in the EOS tester.

Service Action: Customer Care Package Software Update. Through our quality control processes and customers' feedback, BMW has become aware of some intermittent, software-related deficiencies of Model Year 2014 BMW i3 vehicles. Specifically: * On i3 REx vehicles, the Check Engine Light (CEL) may be illuminated without relevant faults stored. The CEL is not accompanied by any drivability, functionality, or emissions-related problems. * On i3 BEV vehicles, the A/C system stops cooling the interior with the fault code 801130 (Heat Pump - general malfunction) stored in the IHKA module.

The CEL is not accompanied by any drivability, functionality, or emissions-related problems. * On i3 BEV vehicles, the A/C system stops cooling the interior with the fault code 801130 (Heat Pump - general malfunction) stored in the IHKA module. CAUSE Software error SOLUTION To enhance i3 driving experiences and reduce the number of customer complaints, BMW has decided to launch a preventive action called the "Customer Care Package: Software Update" to reprogram all affected vehicles in customers' possession and prior to delivery. All affected vehicles will be reprogrammed with the software patch (target integration I001-03-506) via IRAP programming sessions. It is mandatory that prior to the IRAP programming, the vehicle's integration level be checked and reprogrammed with the latest version of ISTA/P (2.52.5) to the level I001-03-505, if required. Starting Monday, July 7, the Customer Relations department will be calling BMW i3 drivers of affected vehicles, advising them to schedule an appointment with their authorized BMW i3 center (copy of the "Customer Care Software Package: Q & A" is attached). Also, make sure that all i3 vehicles in your inventory receive the benefits of the Customer Care Software Update, prior to delivery.

Check Engine Lamp On with No Relevant Faults Stored. Intermittently, a check engine lamp (CEL) is illuminated. The CEL is not accompanied by any drivability, functionality, or emissions-related problems. In addition, no relevant faults are visible during a diagnostic session. The CEL is triggered by an erroneous fault stored in the automatic climate control unit (IHKA), which is not visible using ISTA/D.

High-voltage Battery Charging Recommendations. INFORMATION Only properly trained personnel, who have passed all applicable technical training courses, should perform any maintenance or repairs on any Hybrid or Electric Vehicle. Work performed by unqualified persons may result in severe injury or damage to the vehicle. Additional information may be found in REP 61 00... Observe safety instructions when handling electric vehicles. There are several options for charging the high-voltage battery in the I01. The charging requirements vary depending on how the vehicle is being used. Refer to the following scenarios for the appropriate charging recommendations. In addition, certain precautions must be followed during charging to prevent damage to certain high-voltage components. Diagnosis: * During diagnostic work on the vehicle, a charging cable must be connected via the vehicle's charge port. A level 1 (Occasional Use Cable), level 2 (Wallbox), or DC charger may be used. Repair work: * During non-electrical or low-voltage repair work which is not associated with the drivetrain or any highvoltage components: * The vehicle must be turned off (KL0) and plugged in using an HV charging cable, i.e., Level 1 Occasional Use Cable. * During work on, or near high-voltage components or any drivetrain components: * o The high-voltage system must be shut down by properly trained personnel via Repair Instruction REP 61 25 900. If the vehicle needs to be turned on during the repair process, the vehicle should be connected to a workshop power supply at the 12V service posts on the Electric Machine Electronics (EME). Programming: * During programming with ISTA/P, the high-voltage system must be shut down by properly trained personnel. * A workshop power supply, e.g., DUETRONIC 1600, must be connected to the 12V service posts on the EME. External power supply (low-voltage - 12V): * An external power supply such as a workshop or showroom power supply may be used, but certain precautions mu

Parking Lock Cannot Be Engaged or Disengaged. When attempting to engage or disengage the park position in the transmission, the parking lock actuator may not respond. This condition may be intermittent or permanent. The customer will see the position indicator on the gear selector (GWS) flashing "N" or "P," and a Check Control Message will be present stating "Drive Faulty" or "Secure vehicle against rolling away". One or more of the following faults will be stored in the Electric Machine Electronics (EME): * 222D25 - Parking lock actuator: No change in the PS position * 222D26 - Parking lock actuator: Requested position could not be reached * 222D29 - Parking lock FUSI: Level1/level2 fault NOTE: If the parking lock cannot be engaged, the vehicle must be secured against rolling by applying the parking brake. CAUSE 1. Internal failure of the park lock actuator or 2. Software error
