Grating or Scraping Noise When Turning Steering Wheel. There is a grating or scraping noise when the steering wheel is turned. The noise comes from the steering column switch cluster (SZL), coil spring or steering wheel. When the steering wheel is turned, the connection between the steering wheel and the steering column switch cluster causes torsional stress, which creates a noise in the coil spring cassette.

SOFTWARE CHANGES AFTER PROGRAMMING WITH ISTA/P V3.59.2. INFORMATION Aftersales customer service representatives need to be aware of the following changes that occur to features and functions of the i01 (i3) after reprogramming and encoding by ISTA/P 3.59.2 to integration level 16-07-503. An additional option, in the detail view of the Points of Interest (POI), to display valid charging stations for charging a BMW i vehicle. This list is automatically compiled through BMW i drivers successfully charging their vehicle. This list may now be filtered to include only the 20 charging locations with the most charging outlets in the area. Without the filter, the system will still display up to 5000 charging stations in a 300km (186 m) radius. Vehicles with 5AR Traffic Jam Assistant or 5AT Driving Assistant Plus produced before 07/2014 - Traffic Jam Assistant is now operational up to 60km/h (37 mph). Its operation was previously only available up to 40 km/h (25 mph). The range display has been optimized when the navigation system is activated. Previously, when the navigation system was activated, the range would be reduced because of a difference in the algorithms used by the navigation system and the instrument cluster for range calculation. They have been optimized and the effect on the range display has been minimized. Drivetrain Malfunction (CCM 794) with Isolation Faults. The Drivetrain Malfunction check control message (CCM 794) is displayed, either while driving or when starting up. The following faults are stored in the vehicle: EME: 22280F and/or 222814 SME: 21F0E3 and/or 21F0E4 When the CCM is present, there are no apparent drivability concerns. After allowing the vehicle to rest and then restart, the CCM typically does not reappear. After allowing the vehicle to rest and then restart, the CCM typically does not reappear. CAUSE The cause of an isolation fault is generally a resistance between HV+ or HV- and the shield/chassis ground, which is below a predetermined threshold. The following procedure addresses these faults when caused by a defect in the cable between the HV battery and the EME, as well as when excess moisture is present inside the REx eMachine. This moisture condenses and triggers the above-mentioned faults after a long REx runtime followed by rapid cooling.

EME No Longer Communicates after HV Charging. On the affected i3 vehicles (with software integration levels 15-11-501 through 15-11-504), the Drive Readiness can no longer be established after attempting to charge the HV battery. In such a case, EME no longer communicates with ISTA. In some cases, various calibration values are lost (e.g. resolver angle). CAUSE Vehicle was charged before Transport Mode removal. This may cause: Irreparable damage to the EME. Taught-in values to be set to default values, requiring repetition of teach-in process.

We will provide you with more information regarding the repair process and parts availability as soon as possible. See attached Service Information Bulletin B54 01 16 for more details. Please be reminded that it is a violation of Federal law for you to sell, lease or deliver any vehicle covered by this notification until the delivery stop repair has been performed. This means that centers may not legally deliver new motor vehicles to a consumer until it is fixed or use/sell replacement equipment/parts subject to a delivery stop. Note also that substantial civil penalties apply to violations of this law. Also, you should not sell, lease or deliver any Certified Pre-Owned or used vehicles subject to a delivery stop until the repair is completed."
