The sound may come from the balance shaft which is fitted in the oil sump area where the noise is most concentrated. A new design of the balance shaft is planned to be introduced 2018-Q2. Replace the balance shaft according the instructions in VIDA. Note: It's extremely important to adjust the new balance shaft with the correct tools according the instructions otherwise the sound may occur again in a short mileage.

This is a Technical Journal: Sensus Navigation. IAM 2.1 software upgrade to allow map upgrade via USB. There is a new process for upgrading maps on cars with Sensus (IAM2.1) navigation. Map updates for Sensus navigation systems in MY2011-2015A cars (identified as shown in attached picture) can now be downloaded online and transferred to the car via a USB flash drive in the same way as current models. Updating via DVDs is no longer possible. This Technical Journal informs the technician how to perform the software upgrade. Service: To allow map upgrades via USB, the IAM software must be upgraded to the latest status. Before starting the IAM software upgrade, secure following: - The Volvo USB stick must be formatted to FAT32. The 64GB Volvo USB stick formatted to exFAT or NTFS will not work. -

Technical Journal TITLE : The Error Frame Finder (EFF) can be an aid in fault tracing intermittent CAN network problems by providing a visible indication of error frames that are being transmitted on the network when the fault becomes active. The advantage of using the EFF function is that error frames are usually transmitted on the network before a vehicle symptom can occur. Hence, if the fault is very intermittent in nature, it may be possible, for example, to induce the wiring fault for a short duration by manipulating the vehicle harnesses and connectors. The electrical fault will occur and be detected by the EFF without ever having a vehicle symptom appear. The instructions for setting up the tool have been simplified.

This is a Technical Journal: Short sound interruptions while streaming via Bluetooth. Short sound interruptions may be heard while streaming music via Bluetooth. This may occur even if the audio/music file is stored in the mobile phone.A possible temporary solution may be to change the source in the IHU to Radio and back to Bluetooth again. Another temporary solution to improve this symptom is to perform a ?hard reset? of the mobile phone and/or perform a factory reset of the IHU (NOTE! The IHU will be restored to factory settings.) Do not replace the IHU due to this symptom as it will not solve the root cause.

This is a Technical Journal: P-SIM = Personal Subscriber Identity Module When using the in-car modem and P-SIM connection, the following symptoms may appear: 1 - In car apps such as TuneIn and Pandora connect to the service but say "Connecting..." when trying to play music. 2 - When a device is connected to the vehicle's WiFi hotspot, it will redirect to an AT&T website such as the one in the attachment Wifi Connection Message.jpg The above symptoms are due to the data plan for the P-SIM expiring. There is no fault with the vehicle. Should a customer present one of the above complaints, please direct them to the support site for instructions on how to renew the data plan for the P-SIM.

This document is a Technical Journal: Effective immediately, all 12V batteries may be tested using the hand held battery tester 9513030 (BT3300). The VIDA test is still available but no longer required. For battery replacements under warranty, the code generated by the BT3300 must be manually copied into the repair order text. It must also be printed and attached to the hard copy of the repair order.
