Effective immediately, all 12V batteries may be tested using the hand held battery tester 9513030 (BT3300). The VIDA test is still available but no longer required. For battery replacements under warranty, the code generated by the BT3300 must be manually copied into the repair order text. It must also be printed and attached to the hard copy of the repair order.

This is a Technical Journal: A whining or rattling sound may appear when revving up the engine. ( see attached sample files ). The sound may come from the balance shaft which is fitted in the oil sump area where the noise is most concentrated. A new design of the balance shaft is planned to be introduced 2018-Q2. Replace the balance shaft according the instructions in VIDA. Note: It's extremely important to adjust the new balance shaft with the correct tools according the instructions otherwise the sound may occur again in a short mileage.

The 8 year extended warranty only applies to vehicles which have exceeded the 4 year or 50,000 miles / 80,000 kilometers New Vehicle Warranty by time or mileage. The limitations and conditions for this extended warranty are identical to the Volvo New Vehicle Warranty. Please refer to the Warranty and Maintenance Records Information booklet for details.
