Due to installation tolerances and window motor deficiencies, it is possible the window regulator motor may have excessive resistance causing pinch protection to activate. The production solution to this issue was a Revised window regulator motor and optimized window regulator installation procedure. In order to reboot the unit, hold down the ?power? and ?eject? buttons at the same time until the unit switches ?OFF?. The instrument cluster illumination is controlled by a photocell inside the cluster. If an illumination concern is suspected, darken the area over the photocell, or use a flashlight to simulate natural light changes, to see how the illumination is affected. See figure 1 below for example of the photocell location based on a 2011 Jetta sedan. Location can change based on model.
