SOME VEHICLES MAY DEVELOP A POWER STEERING PUMP WEAR CONDITION THAT CAN CAUSE AN INTERMITTENT DROP OF POWER STEERING HYDRAULIC PRESSURE THAT WILL CAUSE REDUCED OR LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST. THE VEHICLE MAY REVERT TO MANUAL STEERING WHICH REQUIRES GREATER DRIVER EFFORT, PARTICULARLY AT LOW VEHICLE SPEEDS. DEALERS ARE TO FLUSH THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM, REPLACE THE POWER STEERING PUMP, AND IF IT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN REPLACED, INSTALL A NEW STEERING GEAR VALVE HOUSING.

Technician will insure the connectors to the Instrument Panel Cluster and the DIC witch are connected and then remove the (IPC/DSPLY) fuse. Reinstall the fuse after a few seconds to return the function of the Driver Information Center switch to normal.

Technician will gain access to the correct wheel bear per the Diagnostic Trouble Code that is set. If debris is found on the magnetic encoder ring it will needed to be cleaned.

Technician verifies there are no Diagnostic Trouble Codes are present in the Antilock Braking System and Vehicle Communication Interface Module of the vehicle. If no Diagnostic Trouble Codes found call OnStar using the Blue button on the OnStar key pad and ask the advisor for a turn by turn route. Also make a OnStar personal call and a call into the vehicle.
