Flash: Drivetrain Control Module (DTCM) Update This bulletin involves reprogramming the DTCM with the latest available software. The customer may experience a Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illumination. Upon further investigation the technician may find the following Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) has been set::If the customer has any concerns with the transfer case or if the tech performs any repairs on the transfer case, the software must be updated.C140E - Transfer Case Motor Blocked. If DTC C140E is present, follow normal diagnostic procedures before updating the DTCM.In addition the customer may describe the following:The ?Service 4WD? message/fault is displayed in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC). Transfer case shift fork tabs broken during range shift. Noisy (clunking/ratcheting) transfer case range shifts. Failure to complete transfer case range shifts. The following software enhancement is available:This update will help reduce premature transfer case failure.

GASKET, Timing Case Cover, Rear Gear Housing For 2017-2020 model years only. If you are replacing the timing housing gasket due to an oil leak, please take detailed pictures of the leak, and submit them to the Star Center. Once submitted, continue with the repair. During the repair, check the breakaway torque of the gear housing retaining bolts. If any are found to be loose, note the location of the loose bolt(s) in the Star case.

Rear Axle Vibration, Shudder Or Chatter This bulletin involves changing the rear axle lube to possibly address a chatter, shudder or vibration. The customer may describe the following: A chatter, shudder, or vibration from the rear axle during turns. This may happen more as the vehicle ages, especially if the vehicle is used extensively for towing or hauling heavy loads. The cause of the concern may be due to degradation of the rear axle fluid. It is very important to follow the routine maintenance schedules on these vehicles when it comes to changing the rear axlefluid if the vehicle is used primarily for towing or hauling heavy loads. If you experience a vehicle with the above condition, please perform the proper maintenance procedures for the rear axle and replace the fluid first before replacing any hardware components.This service bulletin is only applicable to vehicles that have no history of an axle fluid replacement. If the vehicle usage includes police, taxi, fleet, off-road or frequent trailer towing, regular axle fluid changes are required every2 years or 20,000 miles (whichever comes first) per the Maintenance Schedule in the vehicle Owner's Manual.

CASE ASSEMBLY, Differential For concern of shudder/chatter/vibration from the rear axle that is more prominent during turns and customer has the following: 1) Limited Slip Differential 2) No record of rear axle oil being serviced in the last 20,000 miles 3) No apparent damage to the axle/differential case or differential case internal gears Service the rear axle oil with new and test drive to see if condition is still present. Handle, Swivel Release and Grommet, Pivot Joint The box bed divider swivel release handle and pivot joint grommet are intended for DS only, and not to be used on DJ or DT. These parts were removed from DJ and DT, since the bed extender obstructs tail lamp visibility requirements at some angles. Installing these parts onto the 2019 or later DJ and DT trucks will violate lighting obstruction requirements.

Air Suspension Components Star Parts Catalog has been updated to show individual service parts for the compressor assembly. This will allow service technicians to repair the root cause without over repairing the system. Replace only the part deemed failed by the diagnostics performed. Individual parts include: - Compressor - Valve block - Individual hoses - Temp sensor - Shield - Air line clips NOTE: in most situations when a new compressor is needed, the compressor as a separate part is the correct repair, and the assembly would not be required.

RADIO, MULTI Media For RA3 and RA4 8.4? radio concern of reoccurring update request pop-up on each key cycle after a radio FOTA (Firmware Update Over the Air) has been completed, please DO NOT replace the radio. To recover the radio, 12v power needs to be disconnect from the radio to clear radio memory either by removal of the radio fuse or preforming a battery disconnect. Note: Fuse removal is the preferred method. The radio needs to be disconnected from power long enough to clear memory and discharge the Capacitance within the radio. Please refer to the latest in diagnostics for further information.
