This SA supersedes the previously issued SA(s) listed below. The changes are noted in Red. SA-061/25 12/17/25 DESCRIPTION If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal MGSS diagnosis by asking if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Below are a few examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices. Examples: 1. Devices connected to the DLC-2 (battery discharge/DTC stored) 2. Devices plugged into the 12V outlet 3. GPS tracking device (engine no start/battery discharge) 4. Dash cam (DTC stored) 5. Non-certified USB cable (Apple Carplay™/ Android Auto™ will not connect) 6. Over-sized wheels/tires (incorrect GPS location) 7. DTC C0023:14 8. Decorative trim and/or cover on the START/STOP ENGINE button Example 1: Some electrical devices connected to the DLC-2 connector by insurance or mobile phone companies may cause: Battery discharge. The device may disrupt the CAN system battery saver mode. • IDS/MMDS will not communicate with the vehicle due to poor DLC-2 connection. The aftermarket device may cause DLC-2 female terminals to spread open.

This bulletin supersedes the previously issued bulletin(s) listed below. The changes are noted in Red. 09-012/21 12/13/21, 06/10/21 and 04/27/21 DESCRIPTION Some customers may experience all of following symptoms: The door lock/unlock operation will not work using the remote transmitter button. 1. The door lock/unlock operation will not work using the door lock/release touch sensor. 2. The engine will not start using the ignition switch. 3. The transmitter operates by itself. 4. The key battery drains faster than usual. 5. Symptoms 1-3: This may be caused when excess load is applied to the remote transmitter, deforming the electrical terminals and creating poor contact with the battery. To eliminate this concern, the structure in the remote transmitter has been modified to reduce the deformation of the electrical terminals. Symptom 4-5: This may be caused when excessive load is applied to the remote transmitter, creating a gap around the gasket where moisture enters and corrodes the circuit board which in turn drains the key battery faster than usual. To eliminate this concern, the thickness of the case wall on the gasket mounting surface has been increased and the bonding strength of the components has been improved to prevent deformation. REPAIR PROCEDURE • If the battery is bad or installed incorrectly, replace the battery and/or install it correctly. • If the remote power saving function is off and the battery is good and installed correctly, replace the defective remote transmitter with a modified one according to the instructions on MGSS (IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM-RELATED PARTS PROGRAMMING). NOTE: DO NOT replace other remote transmitter(s) for the vehicle if they not experiencing an issue.

NHTSA source summary · Original PDF not reviewed by Recallfolio

This Service Alert supersedes the previously issued SA(s) and TSB(s) listed below: The changes are noted in Red. SA-035/24 05/31/24 DESCRIPTION There is a concern that some water pumps are being replaced that are not faulty, due to signs of a very small coolant leak from the bleed hole. This Service Alert is to inform you about the water pump sealing mechanism and the criteria if replacement is necessary or not. A mechanical seal (A) is used for the water pump. This mechanical seal can seal coolant (B) by sliding a mating ring (C) against a seal ring (D). When the sliding surface temperature of the mechanical seal is more than 248 °F (120 °C) while driving, a small amount of steam (E) is leaked and bleeds through the bleeding hole (F). After drying, the steam leaves a green coolant deposit near the water pump bleed hole (F). This is a normal condition and does not require water pump replacement. The water pump should only be replaced if there is an accumulation of crystallized coolant near the bleed hole. When you encounter a water pump with coolant seepage marks, decide to replace it or not based on the following criteria using sample photos. NOTE: During the initial period of use*, the sliding surfaces of the seals may not yet be fully settled, which can temporarily increase the amount of leakage. Continued use will allow the surfaces to settle, reducing the leakage. Replacing parts that are already settled with new ones will increase the leakage again until the new parts become conditioned. Therefore, replacement should be avoided in this initial period of use. *As a guideline, this applies to vehicles with less than 1,860 miles (3000 km) of mileage.

Some customers may experience a check engine light ON with DTC P0126:00 (Thermostat stuck open) and one or more of the following symptoms: Engine takes longer to warm up. Engine temperature gauge fluctuates. Low coolant temperature indicator (blue) light stays on longer or turns on while driving. Poor heater performance, especially at idle. Vehicles with SKYACTIV-G 2.5T are not applicable to this service information. DTC P0126:00 is not required to be present to perform this repair. If the vehicle has not previously had the repair specified in this TSB and is exhibiting any of the listed symptoms, proceed with the repair procedure outlined in this bulletin. If DTC P2B61:00 (Coolant Control Valve Circuit Range/Performance) is present along with DTC P0126:00, this TSB does not apply. Diagnose the symptom and/or stored DTCs according to the procedures in MGSS. If only DTC P0126:00 is present and this TSB has already been completed previously, this bulletin does not apply, diagnose the symptom and/or stored DTCs according to the procedures in MGSS. This concern may be caused if the coolant control valve fail-safe thermostat opens at a temperature lower than the normal temperature due to a deformation of the thermostat diaphragm. To eliminate the concern, the water flow control valve specification has been modified. Affected vehicles will require PCM reprogramming with the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS), using either a) Mazda Diagnostic and Repair Software (MDARS) or b) Mazda Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) 140.04 or later software.

This bulletin supersedes the previously issued bulletin(s) listed below. The changes are noted below in Red. 01-007/24 06/20/24 ENGINE OIL LEVEL WARNING LIGHT ON WITH DTC P250F:00 DUE TO LOW ENGINE OIL LEVEL (UPDATED WITH SSPD5 INFORMATION). All Mazda Dealers: Follow the Special Service Program SSPD5 – Valve Stem Seal Class Action for determination if valve stem seals should be replaced. 1. Verify the customer concern following the Special Service Program SSPD5 Repair Procedure. As the repair procedure states in SSPD5, confirm the engine oil is not leaking from the engine. If the customer reports engine oil is low upon arrival at a dealer, replace the valve stem seals following the flow chart for SSPD5. If engine oil is low upon arrival with no customer complaint, check for SSPD5 and if the valve stem seals have not been replaced under prior Warranty, replace the seals. If the valve stem seals have been replaced under a prior Warranty claim, contact Hotline for further instructions. If valve stem seals need to be replaced, replace the valve seals of the exhaust side with improved ones using the special tools called out in the repair procedures below. 2. Top off the engine oil (if needed). NOTE: Engine oil should not be topped off without replacement of the valve stem seals. 3. Verify the repair. NOTE: If unsure what steps to take during a customer visit for oil consumption related to SSPD5, fill out Dealer Recall Help on OneMazda.

The coolant control valve updated part is now available and supersedes PYFD-15-16ZA. As a result, PYFD-15-16ZA is no longer available. PW5S-15-16Z is supplied with a dummy plug pre-installed. Critical Installation Requirement: When replacing PW5S-15-16Z, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) must also be updated to the latest software version. Failure to perform the PCM update may result in drivability concerns or diagnostic trouble codes.

NHTSA source summary · Original PDF not reviewed by Recallfolio

SSPD8 - Check Engine Light ON with DTC P0126:00 - WARRANTY EXTENSION For certain 2018-2025MY CX-5, 2019-2023MY Mazda3, 2019-2022MY CX-3, 2018-2021MY Mazda6, 2020-2023MY CX-30 that are equipped with the suspected coolant control valve, the warranty coverage for specific repair of the fail-safe thermostat is extended to: 15 years (180 months) or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) whichever comes first, from the original warranty start date. CONDITION OF CONCERN: On certain subject vehicles, the check engine light is illuminated with DTC P0126:00 (Thermostat stuck open) stored in memory and one or more of the following symptoms may occur: - Engine takes longer to warm up. - Engine temperature gauge fluctuates. - Low coolant temperature indicator (blue) light stays on longer or turns on while driving. - Poor heater performance, especially at idle. Mazda Motor Corporation has made a significant repair change to TSB 01-003/25 which also impacts Warranty Extension Special Service Program (SSPD8). Repair Procedure Update: Effective December 8th all repairs applicable to TSB 01-003/25 or SSPD8 must follow the new repair procedure. The repair now replaces the thermostat with a dummy plug for the coolant control valve (CCV) along with a required software update for the PCM. Prior Repairs: Any repairs previously completed with the replacement of the thermostat or coolant control valve assembly does not require a re-repair unless there is a verified failure following the diagnosis in the TSB. It is expected that there will be no further repairs made for this concern once the plug and software update has been completed. Therefore, a return visit for symptoms related to the TSB or SSP must contact the Technical Hotline for assistance. VITALLY IMPORTANT!: There must be a “Software Update” record for the PCM when using MDARS or IDS. • MDARS - If there is no Software Update entry in MDARS or the Collect Diagnostic Information (ODR Update) is not completed (or both), the vehicle will not be considered repaired and the warranty claim will be rejected. • IDS – Vehicles programed with IDS must Collect Diagnostic Data, and that data must be attached to the warranty claim. If the data is not attached to the claim, the vehicle will not be considered repaired and the warranty claim will be rejected, denied or debited. Failure to complete the above will require the vehicle to return to the dealership and be re-repaired at the dealer’s expense with great inconvenience to the Mazda customer. Failure to perform the software update could also potentially damage the engine which would not be covered by warranty and would expose your dealership to the cost of repairs.

SPECIAL SERVICE PROGRAM - SSPD5 - WARRANTY EXTENSION - MULTI-MODEL - VALVE STEM SEALS CLASS ACTION In conjunction with a Class Action Settlement, Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct an extension of the Engine powertrain warranty related to excessive oil consumption. In addition, there is a Reimbursement Program, for limited qualifying out-of-pocket expenses (prior oil changes and additional oil purchased before the normal oil change interval due to oil consumption concerns) on certain CX-9, CX-5, Mazda6, Mazda3, and CX-30 vehicles equipped with a 2.5L turbocharged engine with the affected valve stem seals. For all Mazda dealers, an FAQ document for this Class Action Settlement and all documents for SSPD5 will be available on Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) on or before May 13, 2024 concurrent with notification to the Settlement Class. Please review this entire communication in regards to updated coverage for Special Service Program SSPD5 and vehicles out of Powertrain Warranty. Parts & Warranty Information and Dealer FAQ’s on Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) have been updated. • Update August 2025: The Court has clarified that under the settlement agreement, the Mazda Powertrain Limited Warranty Extension includes coverage for 7 years, 84,000 miles for all Powertrain components in the Warranty Booklet under the Powertrain Limited Warranty Parts List (i.e. without restriction to engine issues, oil consumption or valve stem seal issues). • Vehicles are covered only for valve stem seal related repairs for an additional 12,000 miles (96,000 miles total) if the vehicle is presented to a Mazda dealer by October 15, 2025. The overall Mazda Powertrain Limited Warranty Extension (i.e., for all other powertrain warranty repairs) does not apply to this coverage period. • Reimbursement for paid repairs prior to August 2025: Reimbursement will also be provided for any Class Member who was denied Powertrain Limited Warranty coverage and paid out-of-pocket for a qualifying Powertrain Limited Warranty repair during the applicable period of the SSPD5 campaign. The customer will need to go to https://www.mazdavalvestemsealsettlement.com/ to file a claim and contact JND Legal Administration with questions regarding reimbursement. • All Mazda warranty limitations apply to SSPD5 including branded vehicles, W-1, total loss, salvage, rebuilt, etc.. and all other limitations as outlined in the Dealer FAQ’s and Mazda Warranty Policies and Procedures 3.26.

Auxiliary Key Code Cut Method 2019 and newer models require a 10-digit key code to accurately cut keys • 5-digit codes CANNOT be provided for 2019 and newer vehicles (the traditional 5-digit code from the key tag or driver's door lock cylinder is not sufficient and will not be issued for key cutting on these models). • Only Mazda-approved key cutting machines can process these 10-digit codes. • Many older key machines do not support 10-digit codes and cannot be updated to do so. In these cases, dealers will need to purchase one of the newer Mazda-approved key cutting machines capable of handling this requirement. • For a list of current Mazda-approved machines and purchasing options, refer to the Mazda Dealer Equipment Program or view the current Mazda approved key machines below.

A musty/mildew type odor may come from the vents when the air conditioning (A/C) system is operating. It is most noticeable when the A/C is first turned ON. This odor is the result of mold growth in the A/C evaporator/cooling unit which is caused by condensation, dust, and pollen within the cooling unit. This condition is usually worse during high humidity conditions. “Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating” is available to encapsulate the mold to reduce odors. If the product is properly applied, it can effectively reduce the musty/mildew odor for up to three years. NOTE: See parts information for Mazda Air Cooling Coil Coating and Kit part numbers.

When inspected, the differential or PTO oil is dark or black. This is considered normal and NO repair should be performed. During production, differential ring and pinion gears receive a manganese phosphate coating (commonly referred to as black oxide). This coating forms a porous, oil-retentive surface that improves boundary lubrication and reduces adhesive wear during initial contact cycles. Designed as a sacrificial layer, it is gradually removed under load throughout the break-in process. As a result, after the first few hundred miles, or at the initial gear oil service interval, the lubricant may appear darkened by the worn-off coating. It will contain trace ferrous particles from the normal run-in of the gear teeth and bearing surfaces. This condition is expected and does not, by itself, indicate an issue with the differential or PTO gears.

Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) Diagnostic Guidelines Diagnostic Guidelines When diagnosing NVH concerns, it is essential to first classify the issue into one of three primary categories: Noise, Vibration, or Harshness. Many customer complaints may involve overlapping symptoms, such as both noise and vibration, so identifying the dominant characteristic is critical. Once the primary symptom is determined, follow the appropriate diagnostic path. For example, if a concern includes both noise and vibration but is related to vehicle speed, the vibration diagnostic path should be followed. When considering component replacement during the diagnostic process, it is best practice to start with the lowest cost or most accessible part unless diagnostic evidence clearly identifies a more expensive or complex component as the root cause. This approach helps minimize repair costs and avoids unnecessary part replacements. For example, a growling or bearing whine noise may be mistakenly attributed to internal components in the differential, transfer unit, or transmission, when the actual source is a wheel bearing. Misdiagnosis like this can lead to unnecessary repairs, added time and cost. To help prevent this, always follow the guidelines in the repair procedure.

Some vehicles may experience exterior trim heat damage such (melted, separating, etc.) when parked near a glass building or Low-E windows. This may be caused by the sun's reflection. If a structure's windows create enough of a curve, the concave glass can focus the sun's rays onto a small area and acting like magnifiying glass direct the sunbeams into a hot pinpoint of light. This magnifcation of the sun's rays can cause damage to vehicle trim (see examples). Additional information and exemplar images regarding this phenomenon can be found by performing a google search.

The new AWD rear differential DOES NOT come with a breather cap on the rear of the differential, therefore a new one will need to be ordered and installed when replacing the differential. NOTE: The breather threads have a sealant and locking compound that prevents it from being reused. Refer to GEPC for the correct part number of the Differential Breather. The instructions on MGSS will be updated soon to include replacing the breather when replacing the differential with a new unit.
