Some vehicles may exhibit a white stain (A) running down the front door(s), which originates from under the outer door mirror. This is caused when water (containing white corrosion) is generated inside the door mirror base (B), then drains down the door panel causing a poor appearance concern. The door mirror base was originally designed to drain water to the outside of the door. The shape of the door mirror base gasket has been modified to drain water to the inside of the door. The Smart City Brake Support (SCBS) system alerts the driver of a possible collision using an indication in the display and a warning sound when the Forward Sensing Camera (FSC) detects a vehicle ahead and determines that a collision with a vehicle ahead is imminent. In addition, the system reduces damage in the event of a collision by operating the brake control when the system determines that a collision is unavoidable. It may also be possible to avoid a collision depending on the relative speed between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you. In addition, when the driver depresses the brake pedal, the brakes are applied firmly and quickly to assist.

When dealing with customer complaints of excessive condensation and/or water within the headlamp unit, first determine if all the bulb sockets (including O-ring), seals and covers are present and correctly installed. In most cases you will find that the Bulb Seal No. 1 (A) or HID Bulb Seal No. 1 (B) and Bulb Seal No. 2 (C) socket covers have not been correctly installed or are missing due to improper prior repairs (i.e., customer replacing the headlamp bulbs or body shop not transferring them when replacing the headlamp unit(s) due to a collision). Any damage caused by missing socket covers, HID module seal (D), or missing bumper brackets (E) is not covered by warranty policy.

In accordance with Federal regulations, follow the procedure listed below when replacing a speedometer. NOTE: Tampering with a motor vehicle odometer is strictly prohibited by Federal, and State laws. It is the dealer?s responsibility to comply with Federal, State, and local laws concerning odometerand related documentation requirements when providing a repair or replacement. Mazda vehicles are manufactured with tamper-proof speedometers. When a speedometer is replaced, the new speedometer will read zero (0) miles. This procedure is extremely important to accurately represent actual vehicle mileage. Prior to speedometer removal, complete the information required on the ?SpeedometerReplacement Label?.Labels can only be ordered through Mazda eStore. In an effort to achieve a higher level of Customer Experience and retain the value of Mazda?s vehicles, MNAO Warranty Operations is allowing all Mazda dealers to utilize a third party, SPECMO Enterprises, Inc., for Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) odometer setting service. With the use of SPECMO?s services, a Mazda dealer can get the odometer setting updated to reflect the correct mileage at the time of replacement for both warranty and customer pay repairs, therefore resulting in a higher level of customer satisfaction. Since odometer setting service is not part of the warranty repair, it is not warrantable nor required, but optional. However, Mazda Warranty policy provides after- warranty assistance (AWA) or DSA that can be utilized to cover this service expense.

When monitoring the resistance of the air bag modules and pre-tensioner seat belts, the Mazda Modular Diagnostic System (M-MDS) may display a value of only 1/100th of the actual resistance value. This is caused by improper SAS control unit software. To eliminate this from occurring in the future, the SAS control unit software has been modified.

No cool air from air conditioner (Leak from evaporator) Some customers may complain about no cool air from the vents when the air conditioner (A/C) is ON. This concern may be caused by A/C refrigerant leaking from the evaporator (A) at the joint between the tubes (B) and the header (C) due to improper brazing (D). To correct the problem, the configuration of the header has been changed to improve the brazing performance in this area.

Mazda Motor Corporation has decided to conduct a Special Service Program (SSP) on certain 2016 CX-5 vehicles built from November 1, 2014 through May 13, 2016. Certain 2016 vehicles were evaluated under NHTSA?s new frontal oblique crash test, and the evaluation revealed that the fabric of the passenger frontal air bag may be torn during deployment of the air bag.NHTSA performed a frontal oblique crash being evaluated for inclusion in the New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The NCAP test being evaluated is not a requirement of the current vehicle safety regulations or NCAP ratings, but will be used for NCAP safety ratings for future model year vehicles. Even though 2016 CX-5 vehicles fulfill current vehicle safety regulations, Mazda is conducting this SSP to minimize any potential safety risk. The purpose of this SSP is to reprogram the Sophisticated Air Bag Sensor (SAS) unit with modified software. Bosch will ship a Mazda Diagnostic Reprogramming Tool Kit (MDRT3-1) to all dealers on November 28, 2016. Please refer to the Repair Procedure document posted on MS3 for details.
