TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: PRODUCT IMPROVEMENT CAMPAIGN: 2ND ROW SEAT (LH & RH) FOLDING TENSION SPRING REPLACEMENT (PI2602) - This bulletin provides information to enhance the second-row seatback recliner mechanism to dampen the motion of the manual seatback angle adjustment during the operation on certain 2022-2026MY Carnival (KA4) produced from 1/4/2021 through 4/14/2026 and certain 2025-2026MY Carnival Hybrid (KA4 HEV) vehicles produced from 5/21/2024 through 4/8/2026. To aid in the manual adjustment of the outboard second-row seatback in the subject vehicles, the seats are equipped with recliner springs that work in conjunction with a user-controlled seatback angle lever or walk-in lever. This seatback motion is controlled by the user to achieve their desired seat position. To improve usability, Kia has developed a newly designed second-row seatback recliner spring that will dampen the motion of the manual second-row seatback angle adjustment. (Note: Only the second-row outboard seats are affected. The second-row center seat, if equipped, is excluded from this campaign.)

TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN: OIL LEVEL PLUG (OLP) INSPECTION, AND OLP GASKET AND/OR ATF FILLER BOLT REPLACEMENT OR A/T REPLACEMENT (SC363) - This bulletin provides information to inspect the oil level plug and automatic transmission fluid (ATF) for signs of leakage and, if necessary, replace the oil level plug gasket and/or ATF filler bolt, or the 8-speed Automatic Transaxle (A/T) assembly on certain 2025-2026 Kia model vehicles listed in the table below. Also, dealers are to ensure the oil level plug is tightened to Kia’s factory specifications upon the completion of the inspection and necessary repair. The oil level plug in the subject vehicles may not have been installed properly during assembly. The oil level plug may be loose or detached from the 8-speed Automatic Transaxle (A/T) which may result in leaking automatic transmission fluid (ATF). A transaxle which is operated with excessively low ATF may become damaged over time.

Kia has identified that Connected Car Services (CCS) functionality may intermittently fail due to temporary DCU communication issues. PITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: CCRC WITH DTC B281600 (PS798) - This Pitstop provides information regarding DTC B281600 stored on some 2025 - 2026MY Carnival (KA4, KA4 HEV) vehicles equipped with Connected Car Rear Cockpit ‘ccRC’ rear seat entertainment screens. When performing a diagnostic scan using the Kia Diagnostic System ‘KDS’, DTC B281600 can become stored but does not cause any concerns with functionality of the ccRC system. DTC B281600 does not trigger any warning lights and does not indicate any hardware malfunction within the ccRC system and does not perform any meaningful diagnostic function. No further diagnosis, Techline case and/or repairs are necessary for DTC B281600 unless there is an active customer complaint of the ccRC system. This issue is expected to be resolved through a future ccRC Over-The-Air ‘OTA’ update.

PITSTOP: TECHNICAL OPERATIONS: EXTERNAL DAMAGE TO ULTRASONIC SENSOR: This Pitstop provides information related to Parking Distance Warning (PDW) alerts and repairs involving ultrasonic sensors. The PDW system alerts the driver while parking, by calculating distance based on the difference in signal transmission and reception times between the vehicle (ultrasonic sensor) and an object. The membrane film of the ultrasonic sensor is used for object detention and can be damaged by stone chips or foreign substances while driving. Damage to the cover of the ultrasonic sensor can also lead to damage to the internal circuit. As a result of this external damage, the PDW system may not receive the proper signal from the ultrasonic sensor. In some cases, the system may cause a false alarm, no alert, or phantom warnings by a “Warning Lamp’ to be displayed on the cluster. The ultrasonic sensor membrane film should be always inspected for external damage and if any part replacement should be treated as a general repair, not as a warranty claim repair for this concern. (Please note that this Pitstop only applies to models/trims that are equipped with the ultrasonic sensors.)

The subject vehicles are equipped with seat rails on the interior floor of the passenger compartment which allow for the adjustment of the 2nd -row seats. Under certain operating conditions in high temperature environments, the 2nd -row seat rails may become warm or hot to the touch. A hot seat rail can result in discomfort if an occupant touches the seat rail with their bare skin. This campaign is to install covers on the 2nd -row seat rails that reduce the surface temperature of the rails and improve the vehicle occupants’ experience.

The affected vehicles may experience a ‘dark current” draw from the 12V battery while the vehicle is parked, potentially resulting in low battery voltage and no-start condition.
