Special Coverage. On some vehicles, equipped with a 6.6L diesel engine, an exhaust gas temperature sensor, at the position 2 location, may fail. If this occurs, the control system will inhibit diesel particulate filter regeneration and selective catalyst reductant (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) dosing. The Service Exhaust Fluid System or Service Emission System message will be displayed, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) will illuminate, and a diagnostic trouble code related to the position 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor will be set. This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. Dealers are to replace the position 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor as necessary. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on how to diagnose and repair vehicle that may have a "Check Trailer Wiring" or "Service Trailer Brake System? message on the Driver Information Center when a trailer is connected to the vehicle. Diagnostic Trouble Code C1114 set in the Chassis Control Module. Chassis Control Module has to determine the type of trailer brake system that is being used. The Chassis Control Module can be sensitive to a variety of trailer wiring issues. The technician will need to make a trailer tester using Electric Trailer Brake Magnets and 7-way trailer connector to determine if it is a vehicle or trailer issue. If the concern is not duplicated with the tester installed, the vehicle is operating correctly and the focus should be on the trailer wiring or 7 way connector.

Special Coverage - If a driver repeatedly sits on the seat belt cable cover located at the base of the driver?s seat when entering the vehicle, it may cause the seat belt pretensioner to bend sharply over the seat side shield. If this continues to occur over an extended period of time, which is very rare, the seat belt pretensioner cable may fatigue and eventually separate, which could reduce the effectiveness of the vehicle?s seat belts. Before any damage occurs to the pretensioner cable itself, signs of wear will be visible on the pretensioner cable cover where it has been repeatedly bent over the seat side shield. Dealers are to replace the pretensioner and side shield for all customers that experience a broken pretensioner cable or come to a dealership with excessive wear on the cable sleeve. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.
