2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). This may be due to various software parameters within the TCU. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the TCU operation, clear this DTC and no further repairs are recommended. If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) TCU update in July 2022 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.

Certain 2021 Model Year F-150 Raptors with BlueCruise Prep Kit: FordâÂÂs advanced BlueCruise hands-free driving technology has started rolling out to a wide variety of customers, beginning with more than 50,000 F-150 and Mustang Mach-E vehicles already equipped with the feature produced at our plants starting last July. Ford knows Raptor truck customers want the best of everything, which is why we delivered our most off-road capable version of the truck ever with plans to combine it with BlueCruise for breakthrough hands-free, on-road driving. We found in the final stages of software development that this specific implementation does not meet Ford and our customersâ highest standards when combined with the purpose-built off-road suspension and capability that our Raptor truck customers expect. As a result, Ford will refund customers the $795 hardware prep kit price and make new customers aware they are not being charged for the feature.

Some 2021 Bronco/F-150/Explorer/Aviator/Police Interceptor Utility vehicles, non-hybrid, may exhibit harsh/delayed engagement and/or harsh/delayed shift concerns. These may be addressed with the powertrain control module (PCM)/transmission control module (TCM) Transmission Accelerated Main Control Break In Routine. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 307-01, DTC Chart and/or Diagnosis By Symptom to identify the clutch(s) to be cycled. Cycling the shift solenoids and clutch control valves to remove contamination must be performed along with an adaptive drive cycle before attempting repair. This routine's usage has been expanded for various symptoms across the life of the vehicle. For claiming, use causal part 7A100 and applicable labor operations in Section 7 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2021 F-150 Tremor vehicles built on or before 26-Aug-2021 may exhibit a condition where the active park assist system is inoperative with an Active Park Fault message displayed in the instrumental panel cluster (IPC) and/or in the SYNC display. This may be due to the software in the anti-lock brake system (ABS). To correct this condition, reprogram the ABS module using the latest software level of the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS). For claiming use causal part 2C219 and the applicable labor operations of Section 02 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

Some 2017-2022 F-Super Duty and 2016-2022 F-650/F-750 with 6.7L diesel engines, 2015-2019 Transit with 3.2L diesel engines and 2018-2021 F-150 with 3.0L diesel engines may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble code (DTC) P206C in the powertrain control module (PCM). Review of repair data supports that P206C is often the result of incorrect diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) concentration. Per Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) Pinpoint Test (PPT) RJ, a DEF concentration reading below 28% will set P206C and cause vehicle derate. If low concentration is suspected, drain fluid and replace with known good DEF before replacing any parts. Low concentration of DEF is not a warrantable condition.

Some 2018-2021 EcoSport, Expedition, Navigator; 2019-2021 Ranger; 2020-2021 Escape, Corsair, Explorer, Transit; 2021 Bronco, Bronco Sport, Edge, Nautilus, F-150, Mustang; 2019-2022 Transit Connect; 2020-2022 Aviator, F-Super Duty; and 2022 Maverick vehicles may exhibit an illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) P0496, P0456, P0455, P04F0, and/or P0451. Ford has tested returned EVAP canister purge valves and found them to be fully functional. Prior to replacing the canister purge valve or other EVAP components, perform the following tests using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) Scan Tool: Full System EVAP Leak Test - FDRS Location: TOOLBOX > PCM > PCM - Evap Emissions System Test and the EVAP Purge Valve Leak Test - FDRS Location: TOOLBOX > PCM > Evap Emission System Toolbox > CPV Check.

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles equipped with a 10R80 MHT transmission and built on or before 23-Apr-2021 may exhibit a harsh 1-3 upshift and/or a harsh electric to gas engine drive transition. This may be due to the software in the powertrain control module (PCM). To correct the condition, follow the Service Procedure to reprogram the PCM.

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may experience the IPC going blank or rebooting during an incoming or outgoing cell phone call. This may be due to the cell phone connected to SYNC having an emoji alongside the text of a name in the cell phone's contact list. If suspected, interview the customer about the concern happening during calls with specific contacts. If confirmed, have the customer remove emojis from the text of names in their contact list and re-evaluate. Inform customers that engineering is currently working on a solution for this condition and will be released via an over the air (OTA) software update expected in February 2022. Software will update automatically if the vehicle is connected to FordPass. Monitor OASIS for additional information. Schedule a service appointment for customers that are not connected to FordPass once the repair becomes available.

Some 2021 F150 vehicles may exhibit a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U0253:00 stored in the ABS module. This DTC will not cause observable conditions or result from concerns with other vehicle systems. Diagnose all other DTCs before addressing U0253:00. This DTC should be disregarded when performing diagnostics for concerns unrelated to the ABS system. If an ABS system concern is present, perform normal diagnostics. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), section 206-09 > anti-lock brake system > diagnosis and testing. Ford is working on a software update that is expected via over the air (OTA) to resolve this informational DTC that is expected by June 2022.

Some 2021 F-150 vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U2404:92 stored in the gateway module (GWM) after an over the air (OTA) update was performed or the GWM software was updated using the Ford Diagnosis And Repair System (FDRS). This may be due to various software parameters within the GWM. If this DTC is identified during normal diagnostics, but the vehicle does not exhibit any customer concerns around the GWM operation, this DTC should be disregarded. This DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. Ford is developing a software update which will be delivered to the vehicle via an over-the-air (OTA) GWM update in December 2021 to prevent this DTC from setting erroneously.
