Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles may experience multiple warning indicators/messages displayed in the instrument panel cluster including but is not limited to Pre-Collision Assist Not Available, Hill Start Assist Not Available and/or Front Camera Malfunction. The vehicle may also have multiple communication fault diagnostic trouble codes (DTC) setting in and/or related to the high speed control area network 2 (HS-CAN2) modules. This may be due to a loose and/or improperly seated connector C210. If the vehicle exhibits the above conditions, access and inspect connector C210 for proper attachment and/or damage and repair as necessary. If this fault persists, refer to Workshop Manual, Section 418-00A and continue with normal diagnostics. For claiming, use causal part 14290 and applicable labor operations in Section 10 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual.

This article supersedes TSB 22-2150 and SSM 50970 to update the Service Procedure. For some 2021 Mustang Mach-E, F-150, Edge, Nautilus and Bronco vehicles technicians may experience the inability to update the accessory protocol interface module (APIM), telematics control unit (TCU) or gateway module (GWM) using the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) and Universal Serial Bus (USB) drive. The PTS OTA Dashboard on vehicles with this condition may also display multiple APIM and/or TCU updates have failed, and/or a no OTA history message. In addition, on vehicles with this condition, the customer may have reported experiencing a Ford Power-Up software update failure message via the vehicle display and/or FordPass/LincolnWay. This may be due to an internal software error. To correct this condition, follow the Service Procedure to update and/or recover the APIM/TCU. Note: Only 10% of vehicles may require this procedure.

Some 2021-2022 Bronco vehicles equipped with a soft top roof may experience a broken window buckle on the rear quarter or rear window assemblies. It is no longer required to replace the window assembly to repair this condition. Order the following buckle parts as needed: male side of the buckle (M2DZ-00817-C), which is located on the soft top window assemblies and the female side of the buckle (M2DZ-00817-A), which is located on the soft top cover. To install the male buckle, cut and remove the old plastic clip leaving the fabric loop (on the window assembly) fully intact. Harvest/Inspection Program Certain 2021 Model Year 5 Door Bronco Vehicles Side Impact Sensor Retaining Stud and Nut Inspection This program is a proactive investigation by Ford Motor Company to inspect for the correct installation of a side impact crash sensor. Specifically, Ford is investigating whether the right hand and/or left hand side impact sensor could be missing the retaining stud and nut that secure the sensor to the b-pillar of the vehicle. Ford is voluntarily conducting this program because it received one report that a side impact sensor was not installed correctly, and it is inspecting other vehicles that were built around the same time. 2021-2022 various Ford and Lincoln vehicles may exhibit an erroneous diagnostic trouble code (DTC) U1A01:93 stored in the telematics control unit (TCU). If the DTC returns after being cleared or if the vehicle exhibits connectivity concerns with the TCU, continue with normal Workshop Manual (WSM) diagnostics. If set erroneously, this DTC does not cause any observable concerns or warning messages and does not affect vehicle performance or durability. If the telematics control unit (TCU) on the vehicle does not exhibit any diagnostic trouble codes (DTC), but the customer is running into these app concerns, this may be due to poor cell signal getting to the TCU. The TCU - Provisioning Application on the Ford Diagnosis and Repair System (FDRS) scan tool will provide cell signal strength information that can help to diagnose the source of the poor cell signal. If poor cell signal is found, refer to WSM 415-00 to help identify an antenna concern. Be sure the vehicle is an open environment.
