This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have Service Stability Lamp on. Technician may find a current or history Diagnostic Trouble Code C012E and C12FE. Technician should follow Service Information diagnostics for Diagnostic Trouble Code C012E symptom code 00 in the Electronic Brake Control Module or C12FE in the Engine Control Module. If the vehicle has a current or history Diagnostic Trouble Code C012E symptom code 12 without a C012E symptom code 00 in the Electronic Brake Control Module and a C12FE in the Engine Control Module, the code sets due to a powertrain code or a power down issue with the vehicle, this is not related to the brakes. The technician should diagnose other Diagnostic Trouble Codes or issues with the vehicle first.

This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician of a customer concern where the heated seat indicator light is not functioning or the heated seats are not up to operating temperature during a remote vehicle start event. This is normal operation of the heated seat during a remote vehicle start event. The electronic climate control module is not in a complete wake up state during a remote vehicle start mode and will not enable the light emitting diode. After a cold soak below 32 degrees Fahrenheit the seat will not get hot in the 10 minutes or less of the remote vehicle start mode. This is due to the fact that the heat element is not in direct contract with the seat surface while the seat is unoccupied and the foam below the heater is full cold insulating air which takes time to heat up. Technician is to communicate to the customer this condition is a normal operating characteristic of their vehicle. It will not impact the designed performance or reliability of the vehicle. Please share this information with the customer, including a copy of this message.

This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician what affects electric range and provides driving tips for better energy efficiency. Vehicles may have an electric range is less than customer expectations or what is being displayed on the in-vehicle display for EV range. The distance you can go in an electric vehicle varies with the outside temperature. All electric vehicles are less efficient in cold or hot conditions. This is a function of battery storage capability and increased use of cabin heat and/or air conditioning in these conditions. The vehicle must also maintain a consistent battery temperature in order to maintain desired long term performance. Tire pressure can have an impact on the electric range also. Additionally tire pressures can change with temperature changes. In order to maximize your electric range, ensure that your tires are properly inflated. For proper tire pressure, review the Owner?s manual and the vehicle tire and loading information label. Using the heat and air conditioning systems decreases the energy available for electric driving. Optimal energy efficiency is achieved with the heat, air conditioning, and fan turned off. Driving uphill requires more energy and can reduce electric range.
