Technician will need to inspect terminal tension at the left instrument panel fuse block (X51L) connector X1 terminals 27 and 28. If terminal tension is found to be poor, it will need to be replaced.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles with erratic or hesitation when opening and closing the power lift gate. There may be a diagnostic trouble code B153A set in the power lift gate module. This concern could occur if the left lift gate actuator is internally coming apart. The actuator will need to be replaced however care must be taken when removing the actuator from the vehicle. If the internal portion of the actuator had completely separated the end of the actuator could become a projectile when removed. Obtain a number 8 self-tapping screw that measures 1 ½ inches long. Fully open the lift gate and install the screw anywhere in a 30 millimeter space from the bottom of the smooth tube to secure the tubes. Continue with the lift gate actuator by following the lift gat power assist actuator procedure in service information.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician with the steps on diagnosing and repairing vehicles that may have unwanted grade braking, reduced engine power with no Driver Information Center messages "Brake Pedal Override Feature", transmission busy or frequent shifting up or down. Technician will use this preliminary information to find the brake pedal position data parameters in the scan tool, and also to provide some additional diagnostic help. These issues may be caused by an incorrect brake pedal position sensor input to the engine control module. Technician will verify with the scan tool if the engine control module has the correct parameters for the brake pedal position sensor.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician the steps to diagnose and repair the concern of the display is showing 32° F (0° C) after a battery or reprogramming a module. The outside temperature will begin to update if driven above 20 mph for at least 5 minutes. If the vehicle speed drops below 20 mph, the timer will reset and the display will stop updating. Once the display starts to update it may take several more minutes of driving above 20 mph for the display to fully update. Also if the vehicle is shut off for more than 8 hours the display will update when the ignition is turned on.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that may have a delayed engagement into drive, shudder at a launch, or the transmission is slipping when shifting into 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th gears. This may be due to loose stator support to pump cover bolts causing a leak at the stator support to pump cover gasket. Technician will check for the bolts to be loose. If any of the bolts are loose or the gasket is misaligned or leaking, the transmission pump cover must be replaced and the 1234 clutch plates should be inspected for being distressed and repaired as needed.

If the technician has diagnosed the noise to be a rear axle related whine noise at highway speed, then use published Service Information "Symptoms - Rear Drive Axle". Technician should also compare the concern with a vehicle of the same build. If the noise level is deemed excessive check the vehicle build. Technician will replace the propeller shafts if needed.

Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down remove power to the OnStar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle. A dual-pulse injection strategy is utilized during engine cold start to reduce the time required to bring the catalytic converter up to operating temperature. This split injection strategy lasts for about 60 seconds on cold start. This process may cause the customer to see increased black smoke during cold start and should be considered normal.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician how to diagnose and repair vehicles with an engine that runs with an intermittent crank no start with a Diagnostic Trouble Code P0011 or P00C6 current or history. Technician will need to use Global Diagnostic System 2 to actuate the cam phaser solenoid 4 or 5 times then try starting the vehicle. Then disable the ignition and fuel system. After the ignition and fuel system are disabled try to start the engine. Technician can now unplug the camshaft actuator to perform the following. Install a 20A fused jumper wire between the terminal 2 and 12V. Tickle/tap the low reference terminal 1 to ground on the cam actuator magnet, while cranking the engine over. When the engine starts and runs the cam actuator or oil control valve does not need to be replaced.
