This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that after installing the GM Accessory Heated Seat Kit, one or more of the following issues may be present the heated seat back and/or bottom turns off after approximately 30 seconds and after turning on the heated seat switch, the indicators remain on, but the seat is not heating. Technician may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes B1935 Sym 0E, B2180 Sym 0E, B2425 Sym 0D, and/or B2430 Sym 0D. Technician will need to inspect the accessory heated seat wiring harness and make sure the heater element connectors are installed correctly.

The J-35616-64B is the latest test probe released for checking tension or probing the .64 series terminals. The test probe terminal has been released in the terminal repair kit (J-38125-620H) located in Lear Tray 7 part number 963716-2. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have at times the XM Traffic or Weather for the local area takes several minutes to update and may read "NO DATA" or "UPDATING" during that time. Technician should be advised that Traffic and Weather data from local reporting stations and then send the updated info process may take up to 24 minutes. Technician should test for full operation of the XM band if the system has not started receiving the Traffic and weather update within 30 minutes. Also ensure the customer has not shut XM NavTraffic off in the user settings of the navigation radio. Technician will need to contact XM customer assistance to review the account status and verify that the XM Traffic option has been enabled and is available in the area.

Technician will need to use a scan tool to verify that the alarm was activated by the inclination sensor. If the trigger is the inclination sensor, inspect the sensor's mounting location. Technician will need to relocate the sensor if it is attached to the driver's side lower Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning duct. Technician will need to reinstall the sensor to the top of the Body Control Module bracket.

Technician will need to check the coolant level, remove serpentine belt to verify noise goes away, rotate the thermostat 90 degrees and retest, then replace thermostat and retest. Technician will replace the water pump if replacing the thermostat does not repair the audible engine whine noise.

Brake Pedal Override Feature ?, transmission busy or frequent shifting up or down. Technician will use this preliminary information to find the brake pedal position data parameters in the scan tool, and also to provide some additional diagnostic help. These issues may be caused by an incorrect brake pedal position sensor input to the engine control module. Technician will verify with the scan tool if the engine control module has the correct parameters for the brake pedal position sensor.

Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down, remove power to the OnStar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle. If the OnStar system is still inoperative continue with published Service Information diagnostics.
