Starting with 2016 model year Lane Keep Assist Regular Production Option Code (UHX) replaced Lane Departure Warning Regular Production Option Code (UFL). Lane Keep Assist is designed to assist the driver in keeping the vehicle from drifting out of a driving lane that has clearly identified markings. The electric power steering provides a gentle steering correction if a lane marking has been crossed and the driver has not actively responded.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about being to achieve pre-load when setting up the pinion bearing pre-loads during reassembly of the 9.5/9.76 inch rear axles. Technician will need to use pinion gear install washer part number 11609638 onto the pinion shaft between the flange and nut. Tighten the pinion nut until you achieve 10 pound inch or 1.0 newton rotating torque. After the torque has been achieved back the nut off and remove the washer. Tighten the nut back down until you achieve 15 pound inch or 1.7 newton meters for used bearings or 20 pound inch 2.25 newton meters for new bearings.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicle that may have wind whistle noise heard from the right or left rear quarter glass area when driving at highway speeds or with a cross wind. Technician will inspect the quarter glass for excessive urethane. If excessive urethane is found use a sharp knife and cut off the excessive urethane. Also the technician will install foam tape along the entire length of the tail light assembly.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that the blower motor may be noisy or vibrate when running. This concern will only occur when the temperatures is below 32 degrees Fahrenheit and if the blower motor is removed while still cold, ice may be found on the blower motor cage. This concern could be caused by water leaking or snow ingestion into the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning case. Technician is to perform normal water testing diagnostics while the Heater-Vent-Air Conditioning is running, looking for water leaking past the plenum cover. If water is leaking past the cover remove the cover and install a 12x12 snow resistant screen to the fresh air intake. Reseal and install the plenum cover cap using Kent air dry sealer or equivalent.

The Chassis Control Module can be sensitive to a variety of trailer wiring issues. The technician will need to make a trailer tester using Electric Trailer Brake Magnets and 7-way trailer connector to determine if it is a vehicle or trailer issue. If the concern is not duplicated with the tester installed, the vehicle is operating correctly and the focus should be on the trailer wiring or 7 way connector.

This Preliminary information communicates the use of Winter grade fuel during the warm months of 2020 and the potential rivability issues that it can cause. The ongoing Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused significant reductions in driving and fuel use. Due to the surplus of winter grade fuel sitting in storage (pipelines/stations) the EPA is waiving the fuel vapor requirement. This will extend the use of winter fuel into the summer months.
