Information on Inside Rear View Mirror and Camera Loose Some customers may comment that the inside rear view mirror or front camera is loose or that the mirror/camera mounting bracket is loose or has fallen off. If a vehicle is encountered with the above condition, do not attempt to reinstall the bracket onto the windshield. The above listed vehicles have a revised bracket design that is not serviceable. It is necessary to replace the windshield glass assembly. The bracket comes installed on the new glass assembly. Refer to Windshield Replacement in SI.

Clunking Noise from Front of Vehicle During Turns and/or Bumps Some customers may comment on a clunking noise originating from the front of the vehicle that is more predominant during turns or traveling over bumps. This may be caused by a damaged stabilizer shaft frame bracket. There have been some cases in which the bracket is cracked, as shown. This condition has been found to be the result of insufficient welds between the bracket and frame rail. There have been some cases on older vehicles of corrosion affecting the bracket

If connector is damaged, replace the fuel tank filler vent hose. Refer to Fuel Tank Filler Vent Hose Replacement in SI. If there is no damage to the connector, continue diagnosis referring to SI.

15638 - Customer Satisfaction Program. Certain 2016 model year Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Corvette, GMC Yukon Denali and 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV, Chevrolet Silverado LD, GMC Sierra LD, and Yukon Denali XL model vehicles equipped with 6.2L engines (RPO L86 and LT1) may have engines built with cylinder head gaskets in which the head gasket stopper ring was off location. The gasket may fatigue over time leading to the possibility of a leak into the combustion chamber after several thousand miles. Possible symptoms include: a check engine light for P0300 Misfire, possible combustion gas leaks to coolant resulting in overheating, over-flowed coolant bottle, milky-colored engine oil in the crankcase, piston scuffing and if the vehicle is continued to be driven in this condition, engine failure. Dealers are to replace the left and right side engine head gasket.

15396B - Service Update (Parts Information revised). This bulletin provides a service procedure to install the original design temperature-sensor wiring harness to the valve body on certain 2015 model year Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV; Chevrolet Silverado; and GMC Sierra, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles, equipped with a 6.2L engine (L86) and 8-speed automatic transmission (M5U). The supplier of the transmission-wiring harness introduced an unapproved change to the temperature sensor (thermistor), resulting in incorrect oil-temperature readings during transition from cold to warm temperatures. This could cause a harsh shift when starting the vehicle at temperatures below 32ºF (0ºC); however, shift quality improves once the transmission oil warms up.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles with misfires or roughness on cold start up. Technician may find a Diagnostic Trouble Code P0300 stored. Technician will add coolant dye to the system, run engine through warm up, pressurize the cooling system on a cold soak engine and inspect the suspect cylinder with a bore scope for coolant dye evidence. If coolant is found in the cylinder do not replace the cylinder head because that will not repair this concern. Dealer will need to contact General Motors Product Quality Center for engine replacement.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vehicles that have an OnStar system that will not power up. Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down remove power to the OnStar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle. THESE VEHICLES MAY HAVE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE RIGHT-REAR DOOR IS MISSING TWO LASER WELDS IN THE LOWER-REAR CORNER. THESE MISSING WELDS MAY LEAD TO A SQUEAK OR RATTLE CONDITION WHEN CLOSING THE DOOR.

This Preliminary Information communication advises the technician about the calculation and operation of the engine oil life monitor. The monitor calculates the percent of oil life remaining, based on 3 pathways. The first pathway for oil life calculation is engine revolutions. The second pathway for oil life calculation is the mileage form the last rest for all General Motors powertrains except the Volt. The third pathway for oil life calculation is the amount of time the oil is in the engine. The Volt uses a 2 year timer instead of 1 year. It also uses the engine revolution counter. It does not use the mileage pathway to count down.
