Certain 2016-2018 model year Chevrolet Malibu, 2017-2018 model year Buick LaCrosse, and 2018 model year Buick Regal vehicles may have a condition which affects the electrical connection to one of the vehicle?s accelerator pedal position sensors. If this electrical connection is interrupted, the accelerator pedal will still function, but the vehicle will enter a reduced engine power mode in which the vehicle?s maximum acceleration and torque are reduced. Additionally, the Malfunction Indicator Light (Check Engine Light) will illuminate, the ?Engine Power is Reduced? message will display, and a diagnostic trouble code for Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor Correlation (P2138) will be set when this condition occurs. Dealers are to replace the accelerator pedal and position sensor assembly as necessary and repair the engine wire harness (Malibu LFV only). The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

During service, certain vehicles equipped with OnStar (RPO UE1), may have received an incorrect and partially programmed/configured replacement OnStar module. This condition will disable certain OnStar features, including Remote Access (remote start, door lock/unlock, etc.), Connected Access (vehicle diagnostics, dealer maintenance notification, etc.), and Unlimited Access (Turn-by-Turn Navigation). The OnStar Safety & Security Plan (Automatic Crash Response and Stolen Vehicle Assistance) is functional. Dealers are to replace the OnStar module, program, confirm and register the new module correctly by pushing the blue button for confirmation with an OnStar advisor.

This Preliminary information communicates that when a customer or technician attempts to add a new transmitter to a vehicle following the adding transmitters without Service Programming System procedure the procedure will not complete and a message "Remote Learn Pending" will be displayed on the Driver Information Center. In the past to perform the new transmitter procedure only one previously learned transmitter was required but this is no longer the case. Now, two previously learned transmitters are required to be placed into the cup holder and then the new transmitter to be programmed placed in the transmitter pocket. If this new procedure is not followed, the "adding transmitters without Service Programming System" cannot be performed. The technician will be forced to add a transmitter using Service Programming System.
