On certain vehicles that are equipped with a diesel engine (RPO LML/LGH/LUZ), a malfunction-indicator light (MIL) may illuminate due to an offset in the temperature sensor in the diesel-emission-reduction fluid (DEF) tank reservoir or increased DEF tank-heater resistance. Dealers are to replace the DEF tank reservoir. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer.

Condition On certain 2013-2015 model year Chevrolet Express, Chevrolet Silverado HD, GMC Savana, GMC Sierra HD, and 2014-2015 model year Chevrolet Cruze vehicles that are equipped with a diesel engine (RPO LML/LGH/LUZ), a malfunction-indicator light (MIL) may illuminate due to an offset in the temperature sensor in the diesel-emission-reduction fluid (DEF) tank reservoir or increased DEF tank-heater resistance. Special Coverage Adjustment This special coverage covers the condition described above for a period of 10 years or 120,000 miles (193,000 km), whichever occurs first, from the date the vehicle was originally placed in service, regardless of ownership. For vehicles covered by Vehicle Service Contracts, all eligible claims with repair orders on or after November 17, 2016, are covered by this special coverage and must be submitted using the labor operation codes provided with this bulletin. Claims with repair orders prior to November 17, 2016, must be submitted to the Service Contract provider. Correction Dealers are to replace the DEF tank reservoir. The repairs will be made at no charge to the customer

Technician should inspect the PVC orifice for leaking oil or drawing a vacuum at idle. If the PCV orifice external port is leaking oil or vacuum, replace the camshaft cover assembly. Technician will inspect for a missing intake manifold Non Return Valve that may have damaged the PCV orifice diaphragm. Check for the return valve if it is not visible use a long cotton swab to wipe any excess oil from the valve to validate. If the non return valve is still not visible, then intake manifold removal for inspection is required to validate. When the valve is present reinstall the intake manifold. When the valve is not present replace the intake manifold assembly.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about the text messaging feature on some newer General Motors infotainment systems. Pair the iPhone to the system then enter the Bluetooth settings menu, select the “i” icon next to the vehicle name in the device and enable show notifications. The text messaging feature will be available on the next ignition cycle. However with iPhones text messages cannot be responded to when using the infotainment system, they can only be received. For android devices pair the phone to the system during the pairing process the phone will ask you to allow the vehicle to access the device contacts. A second question will pop up on the device asking to allow the vehicle to access the message access profile. Both have to be allowed for the text messaging feature to work.
