Technician should turn off the ignition and cancel retained accessory power. After the vehicle has powered down remove power to the OnStar module for five minutes. After the power has been removed for five minutes, if the OnStar system is working release the vehicle. Technician should inspect the PVC orifice for leaking oil or drawing a vacuum at idle. If the PCV orifice external port is leaking oil or vacuum, replace the camshaft cover assembly. Technician will inspect for a missing intake manifold Non Return Valve that may have damaged the PCV orifice diaphragm. Check for the return valve if it is not visible use a long cotton swab to wipe any excess oil from the valve to validate. If the non return valve is still not visible, then intake manifold removal for inspection is required to validate. When the valve is present reinstall the intake manifold. When the valve is not present replace the intake manifold assembly.

The concern is present when coasting at low speeds of less than 15 miles per hour and then aggressively applying the throttle, or after making a hard stop followed by an aggressive throttle. This is considered normal operation of the vehicle the throttle is delayed and opened slowly up to .7 seconds to help minimize driveline lash and clunking or will have approximately .5 seconds of zero torque to allow the transmission to shift to first gear.

The attached instruction sheet has been updated accordingly. Please discard previous instructions. The list of eligible vehicles also attached to this message contains 2016 Chevrolet Cruze Limited vehicles that have been identified as currently being in used vehicle inventory. The list has also been updated for the other involved vehicles. Since used vehicle inventory can change daily, all participating dealers should check their used vehicle inventory frequently for applicable candidates and proceed accordingly. Please ensure that all used air bag inflators are returned as soon as possible to GM for analysis.
