Some customers may comment that the vehicle has reduced acceleration at low speed and/or transmission is slipping from a launch. Technicians may find DTC P0751 set or stored in history. This condition may be caused by the Clutch Select Solenoid Valve 2 (359), located in the lower valve body, sticking in its bore resulting in a 4th gear start. Note: This condition can be very intermittent and difficult to duplicate.

The calibration update may not totally address shudder or chuggle concerns. These concerns are due to normal operation of the automatic transmission and the torque converter clutch.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about vibration complaints that are one of the most challenging complaints to accurately diagnose and repair. Technician will need to use Pico Oscilloscope Diagnostic Kit to effectively diagnosis vehicles. Technician should drive the vehicle will using the Pico Oscilloscope to record data. After the data is recorded it should be reviewed to determine the root cause of the concern. If a repair attempt made the concern better but not eliminated or had no affect at all, and are requesting assistance from General Motors Technical Assistance Center record another Pico file and save it to the computer. After the new Pico Oscilloscope data has been saved email the data to General Motors Technical Assistance Center in the subject line include ?Vibration? ?Business Associate Code? and the last 8 of the Vehicle Identification Number.

This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles with a rattle, tick, or knock type noise. Technician will use chassis ears to listen to the right and left side of the engine and isolate which bank the noise is from. Technician should now remove the piston and rod assemblies from the affected bank to inspect for a loose rod bushing in the rod, or a loose wrist pin in the bushing. There should be no metal through the oil and a piston and rod assembly will repair this noise. If technician finds metal refer to the latest version of PIP5216. If no wrist pins or bushings are found loose and all other diagnostics for this type of noise has been exhausted then engine replacement may be necessary.

The concern is present when coasting at low speeds of less than 15 miles per hour and then aggressively applying the throttle, or after making a hard stop followed by an aggressive throttle. This is considered normal operation of the vehicle the throttle is delayed and opened slowly up to .7 seconds to help minimize driveline lash and clunking or will have approximately .5 seconds of zero torque to allow the transmission to shift to first gear.

18027-01 - Customer Satisfaction Program - Certain vehicles may have been built with a connector between the electric power steering motor and torque sensor that has a potential for fretting corrosion. If this condition exists, power steering may be lost, and the driver may experience unanticipated increased steering effort as the vehicle reverts to manual steering. A chime will also sound in the vehicle, and a ?Service Power Steering? message will appear on the Driver Information Center (DIC). Manual steering functionality will be maintained but will require additional effort, particularly at lower speeds. Dealers are to replace the complete power steering rack assembly.

THIS CONDITION, IF NOT CORRECTED, COULD LEAD TO LONG-TERM DURABILITY ISSUES SUCH AS REDUCED CORROSION PROTECTION IN THE AREA, FUEL LINE WEAR-THROUGH, AND THE FRACTURE OF THE FUEL-LINE CLIP. This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician about the text messaging feature on some newer General Motors infotainment systems. Pair the iPhone to the system then enter the Bluetooth settings menu, select the ?i? icon next to the vehicle name in the device and enable show notifications. The text messaging feature will be available on the next ignition cycle. However with iPhones text messages cannot be responded to when using the infotainment system, they can only be received. For android devices pair the phone to the system during the pairing process the phone will ask you to allow the vehicle to access the device contacts. A second question will pop up on the device asking to allow the vehicle to access the message access profile. Both have to be allowed for the text messaging feature to work.

No additional thread tapping will be necessary to assemble the transfer case as the attaching metric bolts are self-tapping. Drive the bolts into the new case and torque them to specification.
